Can an Olive Drab Sofa Live in a Sea Salt room?
Comments (22)Oh you guys!!!!!!! I love it all! The pillows - I wish I could pile every one of them on my sofa. As for the rugs, I like them all but I think I could marry that purple rug -- but first I'll have to convince my husband that our old rug simply will not do. And I can't do that until I find the thing. I think it is in the far hinterlands, at the back of the last stack of boxes still waiting to be unpacked. We bought some faux silk drapes a couple of weeks ago; they are very close in color to the wall. I'll try to get them hung this weekend to see how they do ... but not until I shop for pillows ;) Unfortunately our the Homegoods store that was just a half an hour away has closed. Any other likely store suggestions? And THANKS again!...See MoreYellow dining room. too yellow?
Comments (35)This shade of yellow is too harsh. I've seen some yellow rooms I loved, & yellow & gold walls are so very popular. Yellow is hard to get right, IMO. When you really examine yellow paint swatches, you see some have peach undertones, others have green, or gray. So some are quite warm & friendly, while others feel cold & harsh. The first thing I thought of when I saw the photo, was "taxi cab yellow!" Your room is fabulous. You are so fortunate to have the wood architectural detail & beautiful floors. I don't think this color does justice to the quality of your interior. I see where you were going wanting yellow, just think you could do better & before you put the stuff in your room, why not seize the moment & soften it up? You have a simply elegant space w/which to work. Whether you change it or not, show us a picture once you finish the room! Best wishes! Stinky...See MoreChandelier for Dining Room too large?
Comments (6)yes, it will be (as someone who spent long time calculating light dimensions for standard ceilings for her own dining room ) you might have the width(will be very big)..your dining seems pretty big..I think you don't have the height to pull it off 8 feet ceiling-you have 96 inches allover correct? you need minimum 12' of these to go into chain..(canopy will add smth marginally too.) Let's round it down say it'a 12 '..and your height of chandelier without the chain is 33'..at a very minimum there are your 45 inches. It's visually light so lets say you can allow it be 29, 28 over the table? (usually 30-32..but I believe the shape here is forgiving and can be closer). so okay let's even make it (doubtful) 28'..28' plus minimum 45' of chandelier plus chain leave us with 73 inches used already. We had 96. 96-73=23. Dining table height is usually 30 inches. You'll try to force this beautiful piece-and it won't work. You can try and find smaller piece..or some companies customise..change proportions so it'll work in your space(well until a certain degree). But it comes with upcharge. Everybody's welcome to point out where I grossly miscalculated.....See MoreHelp Me Find Upholstery Fabric For Dining Room Chairs
Comments (3)Does the chair you show have only one hind leg? I would think that would make it more difficult to move these chairs around. Also, I would think these chairs would be heavy to maneuver, especially by children and older people. I like the first pattern you show, and I don't think that you need to match colors from one area to another exactly. The mind will perceive them as separate rooms. At the same time I would wonder whether there isn't an overuse of this color, since it is a rather strong one. You might consider a beige material instead or beige with a subtle teal pattern,...See MoreSilver Birch
