Only 22% of voters think presidential elections will be 'free & fair'

dublinbay z6 (KS)

How is that for discouraging!!!!

---------------------------

[. . .]

Half of Trump supporters (50 percent) say the election will not be free and fair; more than a third of Biden supporters (37 percent) agree. Overall, the number of Americans who say the election will not be free and fair (46 percent) is more than twice the number who say the opposite. Another third (32 percent) say they’re not sure what to expect.

Although fears on the right and the left are different, the outcome could be the same, particularly if the contest is close: a winner viewed as fundamentally illegitimate by those who didn’t vote for him, and a democracy that suffers deep and lasting damage because of it.

[. . .]

These views fly in the face of overwhelming evidence that U.S. elections are not subject to widespread fraud. . . .

“You’re not going to see widespread fraud in a presidential or a Senate or a governor’s race,” Michael Adams, who is Pence’s top election law adviser and Kentucky’s top elections official, recently told Yahoo News. “It’s just not feasible. And it hasn’t been [feasible] in 70 or 80 years.”

We've gone over this info more than once here on HT, but still somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of voters expect the elections to be rigged. It is just getting harder and harder to believe in fair elections.

Not surprising, considering this country has been run by what basically amounts to a crime syndicate for 3.5 years.

Well, they won't be. We have ample evidence of that. A third of Biden supporters are concerned (really, only 1/3?) and half of trump's supporters are gleeful about the current lack of voting integrity, and the other half are likely just clueless.

No, it was for about 50 years before Trump. That''s the swamp.

I know the dems will do anything they can to steal the election. There is no way biden - kamala could win in an honest election. They are very unlikable people. Americans love Trump. Just look at the rallies and parades.

There are many more people not attending rallies and parades--and most of them are disgusted with Trump!

Yep. The plan was to create a narrative so disgusting that the Dem candidate would look good by comparison. Once Trump lost the election, no one would be around to hold the folks behind the Russia hoax accountable. No one would take second look at what the FBI told the FISA Court, as it arranged to spy on the Trump campaign. No one would ever discover the FBI deliberately falsified information given to the FISA Court. Nobody would know the "Steele dossier" was written by a foreign operative "desperate" Trump not be elected...and paid for by the DNC.

Americans have good reason to keep an eye on the upcoming election. Dems already have one attempted coup for which there has been little accountability.

No party is perfect. And most politicians are less than sincere. But trump and his administration are a whole other level of corrupt and criminal and deceitful and dishonest, the likes of which we haven't seen in decades, if ever.

The very real threat is for the trump administration to steal the election. They have already done everything they can to lay the groundwork to fight a Biden win. And they all need to be fired a.s.a.p. Which may be doable because it appears that the majority of voters realize Joe Biden, while not ideal, will be a vast improvement over trump and the current administration.

No, it was not--except in the Trumpkins' over-active imaginations.

Ironically, as the OP notes, the Trumpkins were creating a narrative (similar to Adopt's description above) that was intended to motivate Trumpkin's to get out and vote for Trump, but it backfired in that they repeated it so often that they started believing it was true and now at least half of them don't know what is true or not.

By the way, you persist in mis-using the word "coup," Adopt. Impeachment is a special type of legislative "trial," as it were, --a LEGAL process to determine if a high government official (like a president) is guilty (or not) of certain specified crimes. If the govt. official is found guilty in the Senate impeachment trial, he/she is LEGALLY removed from office.

"Coup" is an ILLEGAL seizure of governmental power.

Please quit repeating the "coup" nonsense.

That's exactly what the left tried to do. Remove Trump over a conspiracy theory for a crime that biden actually committed. There were no high crimes or misdemeanors. It was all based on lies. Bad faith with ill intent.

You're twisting things out of shape.

Trump was charged with impeachable offenses but the Senate (dominated by Repubs.) found him not guilty.

Which isn't the same as being declared "innocent"--I should probably remind you.

Nor did the Senate find the House of Representatives guilty of anything--not even "lies" nor "bad faith with ill intent." You made up that "charge"--doesn't exist, didn't happen!

Are we going to go back and argue the impeachment all over again? How about worrying about today's problems instead--like the 2020 elections!

Trumpers sure have learned projection well from their Messiah. Trump’s and trumpers’ projections are getting old and stale. They are the only ones that believe them.

Our whole democratic republic is based on fair voting and Trump along with the GOP have destroyed it. Trump will have a legacy but it won’t be a good one.

Blaming Biden is a Russian tactic. Too transparent.
