Silstone, Taj Mahal Honed Granite Marble Suggestions?
Looking at the different countertop options for our kitchen. Cabinets are simply white and the floor is white oak hardwood.Hardware Top knobs Chareau reeded collection. Need to get different bar stools etc . The rest of the house is painted simple white, have white furniture and antique pieces.
1. Silstone statuario on perimeter and island with a marble tile backsplash
2. Honed Black Granite perimeter island behind range then marble tile backsplash
3. Taj mahal perimeter island backsplash not sure

Comments (73)I had chosen TajMahal quartzite but unfortunately when they were loading on truck it wad damaged. For edging do not do straight edge especialky if it is the thinner slab as you will see the material they use to put two pieces together. ogee with under offset. there are guides on internet. In the end I chose Perla Venato which is quartzite and so very similar to Taj Mahal in colour. I am so glad of my choice. This slab was thicker so just a straight edge. simple but timeless. Make sure your fabricator is goid with quartize as it is a harder stone to work with. Go there and talk to them. Go view the slab before delivery and check it. Do a final hand sweep especially along the edges before they glue it down. My only regret is that we did not use same stone as backsplash. Comments (28)We are using Taj Mahal quartzite for the periphery of kitchen countertop. It’s a large kitchen and will use two slabs for the periphery countertops and the back splash. Our Taj Mahal Is with greenish tint. I am asking for suggestion of another exotic quartzite or if not maybe granite for the central island that will be about 8 feet by 5.5 feet . Comments (17)As with anything, you have to watch out for the quality of the material you are buying. Taj Mahal is very popular right now, so I can see some stone yards carrying lower quality TM that is being filled to cover up the lower quality of the stone. Buyer Beware. I can't see any filled areas in the TM on my fireplace. I have seen some stones with fillers, but did not see TM with any. I'll be seeing my 3 TM slabs for my kitchen soon when we template for the counters and I'll be sure to check them again and ask my fabricator what he has seen out there. I bought all my slabs at a well regarded Los Angeles stone yard that does a large volume and carries high quality materials. Comments (65)@typeandrun, thank you for the response and feedback. Just out of curiosity, was honing an option when you were making your decision. This gives it the matte look but without the texture. We are going with a dark greenisland and warm white perimeter cabinets and I really like the Taj Mahal. I just want to make sure I get slabs that are more cream than beige. That's the toughest part b/c they look so different in the warehouses than they will in real life....See Moreb c

2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoThat black one is beautiful. You could do that on the perimeter, and a white quartz, or a marble like this one (Bianco Avion) on the island. (it's not as bad as carrara, care-wise)
another option, look at Calacatta Porcelain slabs for both. It looks just like real marble. The golden tones in it would look great w/your island.
or maybe Shadow Storm?
However, Taj is beautiful. I'd use it for bot island and perimeter. then you could choose a really nice backsplash tile.b c thanked Beth H. :b c
