Good Sources for Mid-Century style Entry Doors
Comments (9)I think Crestview makes the doors from the top pictures - that was the main one I found. They apparently didn't even sell whole doors at first, just the windows and associated hardware and trimpieces for you to insert yourself in a plain flush door. Those became so popular that they started selling whole doors since then, and I may get one. But there must be other choices out there, one with a local vendor where I can look at the doors and check out the quality....See MoreENTRY DOORS!! looking for the style in the pics attached!
Comments (15)Mrs. Pete - that would probably be a concern in a regular neighborhood but were on 19 acres of private timberland in the backwoods ... not saying it couldn't happen, but very unlikely. Yes, that does make you a less likely target. Thing is, a thief can also look through/punch through windows, too. Unless you put them up at, say, ladder height, which makes this harder. Statistics tell us, though, that most thieves use the front door. Why make it easier for them? The glazing on the door allows visitors to see the "We love our Rotweiler" sign, huge dog bed and the gun case... Your dog is a wonderful deterrent -- one of the best. Your guns, though, are a highly attractive target for thieves. If safety is a concern, there is apparently a transparent film treatment that makes glass very, very difficult to break. Unless there are no other accessible windows or you treat them all, though, I’d think it’s pretty pointless. Yes, that film is a good idea. Do most people use it? Again, most thieves go through the front door....See MoreCombining door styles in entryway
Comments (2)This is our mid room entry and our garage which had restrictions like yours. Not same height at all. That said all our interior doors are flat panel so similar. Our front door is the odd one out in design....See MoreWhat style of light will cast pretty shadows in my entryway?
Comments (1)The existing light is too small for the space. I would look at ceiling mount lights. 2 or 3 bulb. Consider dimmable leds and a compatible switch. I have a lamp similar to this (in antique brass) and am very pleased with it. Does not collect dust....See MoreKatherine
