As is, the cherry wood is dominating the scheme. I suggest painting the wall (and the oak base trim as close to the blue tiles as you can.

For mantel decor, do one grouping over firebox and another over cabinet.

The cherry cabinet and mantel are dominating. I suggest you paint the wall the darkest blue/gray of the tile. Sorry, but this is the only photo I could find to show you how the cherry works with a darker wall.

As for mantel decor treat over the firebox differently than over cabinet.

Thank you, Judy. That’s great insight and very helpful. I really appreciate your thoughts on mantel decor as well. We really want the blue tile to stand out. Is that why you suggested choosing the darkest blue/gray tile? Or is/are there other way(s) to emphasize the tile.

I definitely like the blue better than the gray. Still seems like the blue tile blends almost too well with the blue paint. Am I out of line to suggest something like camel?

I think camel is the wrong direction, assuming you are talking about these shades.

That last blue/gray, Ashland Slate, looks kind of nice. Id suggested the camel to try a brown direction. Can you try something close to the cherry wood color?

Thank you. The cherrywood paint doesn’t work at all. the grasscloth is a little better but not by much. Let’s see what else Judy has to offer. I sure appreciate your graphic work.
