HOA wants to mix Vinyl siding with Real Wood Cedar

We have a beautiful wood cedar duplex condominium set in a meadow overlooking a lake and lined with trees. A very natural setting with great views of nature in all directions. Our buildings are coming up on 30 years old and rather than continuing to repaid the cedar siding the HOA leaders want to start installing Vinyl siding. However, instead of residing the entire building or at least an entire elevation, they want to just use the vinyl "as needed" on sections of the building. They said "don't worry it will match" the stained cedar siding we have now. My concerns are that it won't match, or that it won't match over time as they will fade at different rates, and when they go to do another section that vinyl may no longer be available so then even the vinyl won't match... Photos show the duplex. It is only the Garage section (the center peak) they want to clad with vinyl.

Any input on this? Should we be concerned for curb appeal and/or real estate values?

Here is an example of where they did this on the back side of one of the buildings.

Any input on this? Interested to know if others can see the difference and if it would matter to other houzz_ers if you were making a real estate buying decision?
