For you quilters (and others who sew)....
Comments (5)2 adorable quilts! I love animal quilts, & baby quilts are just the perfect venue for a gifted quilter like Wanda to indulge herself, I mean to showcase her talents. I really like the bright cheery colors on the quilt shown in the link; is it maybe a variation of the old Tumbler pattern? Years ago I read something very interesting & y'all reminded me: A long time ago people made baby quilts in pastel colors which were decorative, but didn't have much contrast. Then scientists (or somebody) learned that contrast is the best thing to help a baby learn to focus his/her eyes & to differentiate between shapes, & people started using more brights, like Wanda's orange & green against a neutral. cool, huh?...See MoreShout out to My3dogs
Comments (36)I LOVE your work. The birds and critters are wonderful and it looks like we have similar birds at our feeders down here in TX -- though the orioles pass through and we see them only for a few days and not every year. We had one couple this year and they were amazing. We also have bluebirds nesting this year -- they would be so cute -- adults and the little fluff ball fledglings. I can see where it would be a joy to create your versions. I have felted flat pieces -- both knit for the purpose and recycled items, but never done needle felting. Probably won't any time soon -- I just bought fabric to try my hand at quilting. Thanks for sharing you work with us and updating us....See MoreQuestion for the people who sew
Comments (10)Here's a mask I made with black and white fabric and black thread: I had white thread, but I chose black thread, partly because I wanted to use black elastic, although I also had white elastic. Anyway, you can see how the black thread looks on white in this case. The elastic is one continuous loop that is tacked down on the right side only, so that it can slide through the channel on the left side, making it easier to adjust and therefore more comfortable. It is also easy to wear around one's neck when it is not necessary to cover the face. I made a cabana jacket with this same fabric, but I used white thread for that because the lining is white. What kind of fabric are the pajama bottoms? I hope they are not flannel. Are they black? You can order white thread from Amazon and get it fairly quickly - generally two days, if you have Amazon Prime. One thing I have lots of is thread!...See MoreWondering About My 3 Dogs
Comments (37)It sure is, Tina Marie! And just like you, I don't miss it a bit, although I was a tad adrift at first when that Monday rolled around and I didn't have to get up at 6 AM, but after a month or so, I was fully integrated into being retired. I had worked from home the last few years, and thankfully travel all over the country was over, but retirement is a wonderful reward! Yes, my cellar dweller is a gem. He is a carpenter, and had done work on the house probably 11 - 12 years ago now. He shared an apartment with a friend, but the friend was moving out. Jimmy (cellar dweller) loved the dogs that I had been then, which sadly are gone, but he loves the 3 rescues that I have now. They race to the door when he gets home from work, and he gets down on the kitchen floor for several minutes, as all three of them are so excited to see him, and they plaster him with kisses. Jimmy has even accompanied me on my occasional Sunday drives for New England Brittany Rescue (NEBR), where all of my current dogs came from. The dogs usually come up from the south, and this coming weekend, 2 are coming from Gaffney, SC to their foster home in Maine. I'm the last leg of the trip for them, and my 'leg' is about 75 miles round trip. My last several dogs have come from NEBR, and this is the current crew. L - R - Riley (12-ish), Ginger (approx.8) not a Brittany, but the smallest and the BOSS, and Rooney on the right, who is approx. 9 now. They make great cuddling each night! (Duh, click on the pic to enlarge it so Rooney on the right is visible!) He's a cutie, although they all are wonderful....See Morelizbeth-gardener
