Living Room/Dining Room Entry Paint Color Ideas
Comments (10)My first question is What is your favorite color? You have excellent neutrals that could work with any color. If you love the cool gray green of Farrow and Ball's french gray I say go for that color. That is a color that can compliment many different colors from the gold warm tan drapes to a fire hot red chair or a deep green alligator. Go with what you like and you will be amazed that it works. If you think the Farrow and Ball French Gray is a little too green based you might consider another FB paint called Light also by FB French Gray FB Light by Farrow and Ball I like mixing cool and warm in different venues for drama. Obviously not all the colors but keeping it simple to two basic hues and working with them is ideal. You have one small wall behind your china cabinet that you could paint in a gold tan to match the drapes but the rest of the walls the Blue gray Farrow and ball you are thinking of would be perfect. Here are some combinations of gray blue and tan that look stunning. Comments (9)I like both Rebunky's and MG's ideas. If you don't want a full banquette, you could still have a window seat and then a dining room table. We had a Craftsman home once and, in addition to dividers between dining and living similar to what MG shared, we had a window seat in the dining room plus wainscot in the dining area in Craftsman-style (not beadboard) with nice, wide moldings at the top to create the plate rail. That and your trim on your doors/windows should easily keep the Craftsman details you love. Of course, I realize that all Craftsman moldings probably aren't the same but we were able to recreate our moldings in a family room addition using various pieces of readily available moldings from HD. I would just add that, imho, if you end up having the w/d in the kitchen, I really don't see the problem with that. I wish I had a picture to share but I someone who has a w/d, side by side, not stacked, in their kitchen behind bookcase doors built on strong piano hinges. The door glide easily and she had some books and pretties displayed. Most of the pretties had museum gel to help hold them in place. She does laundry regularly so the clothes are loaded, washed, folded and put away without laundry piling up. Without a laundry room, you would need to do that in order to not create a mess area. If that's your style, it could work well for you....See MoreHelp! Designing our Living Room/Dining Room!
Comments (6)I think the piece the TV is on would feel more at home in the basement with the chunky coffee table. Your home looks to be more contemporary in style except for the stair railing and the big empty display/bookcase. Do you have the budget to remove the built-in? That would give you some wall space for furniture and art. What is the exterior style of your home? Can you pull off a contemporary interior design and not stray too far from the look of the house outside? I don't think the DR is large enough to add more furniture there. I suggest a great piece of art and a rug that is 36-42" larger than your table top on every side. Pull the same colors into the LR with big art on the wall opposite the FP and above a 3-seat sofa where the built-in is. You can do another rug in the LR that is similar in style and color to the DR rug. For example, here are two navy rugs that could work together. The top one picks up your wall color, and the bottom one picks up on the fireplace stone....See MoreHelp me design my Great Room [Dining and Living Room Combo]
Comments (14)The table top in your inspiration pic caught my attention. It's not the usual furniture showroom table top. I really like this cedar "countertop" and was wondering if something like it might work as a table top or as a top of a rolling cart island that could work as kitchen prep space and/or guest dining if not as a table. http://www.devoswoodworking.com/designing-wood-countertops/wane-edges.html Legs could be bought separately. https://carolinalegco.com/products/x-metal-table-legs-set-of-2-modern-industrial-legs-custom-sizes-available?variant=32186224640097&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_term=&utm_campaign=DR_PLA_Smart_200%25&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=7051262680&hsa_cam=9915659242&hsa_grp=103137792649&hsa_ad=432122759881&hsa_src=u&hsa_tgt=pla-296303633664&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6p_wwNPU6gIVgbbICh0T8w-jEAsYAyABEgIkX_D_BwE...See Moreapple_pie_order
