September glories, a tour of my garden.
Comments (5)Thank you Kareen! The 9 pictures are all in separate posts on the Garden Photo Gallery, sorry Blackie and Highalttransplant. It's irritating to be so backward, but I haven't got an online album. Also, correction, I meant the Heleniums were blooming with the Caryopteris, not Coreopsis....See MoreMy two gardens, on a foggy September morning
Comments (36)David, I want to add to what the others have said. I have really missed your posts and gardening comments and those beautiful pictures to make it all come to life for us. I have saved several for reference...you have touched so many lives with your garden, you should be very proud. I hope everythings gets resolved in a satisfactory manner for you and you can get back to gardening, even a tiny one. It is great therapy, as, I am sure, you know. Best wishes from the lower Midwest. gld...See MoreSeptember hosta leaves and blooms - photo heavy
Comments (0)Some photos from last evening, before it dropped to 42 here. With the cold wet winter last year, then cool wet Spring and Summer ( take that climate change and global warming: bring it on again next year!) we have had a very good late season leaf show. Aphrodite bed had very good leaves and clump growth this year, but limited bloom scapes. One last bloom is trying to open but the rest fizzled. Some photos are not crisp, as the camera started acting up at dusk! Time for a new camera! Lee Armiger (just behind Gold Standard) in front has turned all green but Blue Angel is still quite blue behind it. Sum and Substance trying to take over another garden to the right. This Frances Williams bed held up well this year. It gets some afternoon sun Guacamole has heavy seed set Those big begonia leaves are some very large species plants I picked up in San Antonio Texas a few years ago.. Nigrescens and Striptease held up very well late into the summer. Gold Standard in full afternoon sun has crispy edges. This old Northern Halo clump did very well in this spot - some late afternoon sun. Rough Waters climbing through a cut leaf Japanese maple! Limited sun exposure Krossa Regal in front has lost its blue-grey to a green hue. Kikutii blooming next to an oversize Golden Tiara that is happy! More kikutii - very neat floral display late season Next thread with more photos....See MoreAugust in my hosta garden
Comments (79)See you in September! Plantings over the drainage pipe. The best hosta addition this year. Heat Wave has been perfect all season. Today is August 30! Scrawny plant with big potential. Marilyn Monroe in its second year, with first flowers. This plant was supposed to be Paradise Joyce, but it is clearly June. It has matched my June's coloring all season. I bought a replacement Paradise Joyce this season, and like June much better so far. PJ has been dingy blue all season and is just starting to show a hint of central lightening with very narrow margins. The plant below is beautiful and gets to stay forever...June....See Moreundertheoaksgardener7b
