Banquette seating design help
Need help designing a banquette. It's the only eating area in the house so need to have it large enough for the table to expand to seat 8-10. but have a 6' table normally. Trying to get a pantry in the corner as well, would like walk in but not necessary. Because of an existing window, the pantry would either have to be around 4' or 7'6".

Comments (10)I've taken a lot of cr@p for doing what you're wanting to do. My scale is a bit smaller though. See the unusual spot in the island? That's where my banquette will go. A bench against the island seating two with a half circle-ish shaped pedestal table and two chairs. We had a banquette for our kitchen table in the old space and I knew I wanted to work in a kitchen table spot in the new kitchen. I couldn't make a space large enough on the perimeter for a table during our whole house reno so got a crazy burr in my bonnet to inset the banquette in the island. Many here think I'm nuts, and I think one of the reasons I haven't finished the area 14 months later is because I am doubting my vision now. DH works for a restaurant supply company so has a custom booth maker ready to build this for us. I told Marcolo if it didn't work after it was done, I would just never post a pic and would live in shame forever. We'll see.........See MoreBanquette seating against windows (height?)
Comments (6)This is the best picture I have of the back of my house showing all the windows, sorry. The kitchen is the right side of the house in this picture. The bank of windows you see will be made of 2 wider windows instead of 4 skinnier ones. We will be residing the house next year after the kitchen project. (there's no insulation so the whole skin is coming off so we can insulate from the outside, plus the siding isn't in the best shape) The hill under the windows will become a deck area and the grass in the forefront of the picture will be a pool. The view from the kitchen windows will be the garage roof for now, but after the deck is in I hope to add some taller evergreens into the landscaping if possible for shade and a screen for the garage from the house. Comments (9)I don't know the details of the fixings for the granite. We had a granite table previously (see picture) for 16 years but it was so well fixed and stable, they were unable to remove the granite to move it for the current garden renovation, so sadly it had to be destroyed! So we're having to get a new piece of granite! I love the fact it needs absolutely no maintenance whatsoever, other than a scrub and wipe before use! As far as the banquette, we don't really have a choice. We've removed a higher level garden to create a new patio area and intend to have a firepit table that needs a minimum 3 metre footprint. If we have the fixed table away from the house wall and far enough away to be able to pull out chairs all the way around, it will be in the way of the chairs of the firepit table and make the whole area look/feel cluttered. I'm hoping that with a 12" gap between the seating and the table top that slim adults won't find it impossible, even if it isn't ideal. We'll have the five folding chairs for regular use, so it will only be when we have "extras" that the banquette will come into play. Does that reassure..?...See MoreBanquette seating

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoCould you please post a "clean" layout? One that just has measurements and no comments/sketches. It would be much easier to read. Are you redoing the entire Kitchen, or just the table space to the left?
What are the other rooms in the house? Could you please post a sketch of the entire floor (assuming there's more to it).
