Design help needed. ?armless sofa and love seat?

Hi. I wanted a sectional at first but after searching a long time, it was hard to find the right dimensions and fabrics I like. I found a modular sectional by Century furniture, 'Landon' which is great in the dimensions but the arms are very high and I don't really like that aspect. When you come in the front door, the side of the sofa is showing and I don't think I would like the high arm. Looks bulky. Do you think an armless sofa and armless loveseat would look ok? The living room opens to the dining room so I thought the open-ended loveseat might be nice too. It's hard for me to make decisions and this is an expensive purchase for me. It would be in white fabric or microsuede. The pieces are 36.5 wide x 36.5 depth and 34 " height. Sorry, I don't know how to download pictures. Thank you so much for your input!

I like to put my arms on an arm rest when I'm sitting, so I'm not to keen on the armless option. How about a regular arm rest? A couch is a big investment, so I would take the time to pick out one you really like. I got this one from Ethan Allen. We had two armless sofas creating a sitting area facing a fireplace, chosen so the arms wouldn’t block the view of the fireplace. While the sofas were themselves comfortable I would not do armless again. You had to always sit perfectly upright...

DON'T buy the loveseat - they are the bane of good seating arrangements. Unless you have a courting couple in the home who like to snuggle, a love usually seats one person. Most people don't like to sit that close together. Even on a 3-seat sofa, they tend to leave an empty space in the middle so they can turn and face each other for conversation. Get two upholstered armchairs instead. I think you'll want to paint your home anyway, so first change out the lights for 4000K LEDs. That will give accurate daylight color. If you plan for this sofa to last more than 3-5 years, then get a neutral color that will work when you decide to change rugs, curtains and accessories. If you like to change your decor every 2-3 years, then just get the color you love. Paint is the last item in a decorating project because it can be custom blended to work with the fabrics and textiles in a room.

I see what you've done including/incorporating your sofa's pinkish tan in your pillows and rug and using analagous deeper pinks. You might have better luck with a color scheme that relies on whites and then contrasting colors (navy, charcoal, chocolate brown) and lets the sofa's pinkish tan stand by itself. (Patricia is right that photos of more of the room would get you more helpful advice. She is wrong, IMO, to fling fly-by snark at your sofa instead of advice; and in how she spells the word "please". Consider white curtains with some texture, not pattern. Target often offers attractive panels - look for their Threshold or Hearth & Home/ Magnolia brands. This is all FB marketplace stuff! Even the sand dollar print and dining room table. It’s cherry wood, it wasn’t cheap, but definitely less than what I would have paid new. The trunk was my great grandfather’s. I can definitely move the starburst to the dining area. That makes a lot of sense. I also like the idea of framed family photos. It would be nice to display some of that. Someone mentioned the sheers. I think I need those for privacy. Although without the room being one big wide open space, maybe I don’t need that as much? Years ago we didn’t have sheers and when my neighbor across the street moved away, he mentioned that he could see right into my living room.

The dimensions you provide are for a chair only

Based on the total width the space can handle I’m sure you can find a sectional or couch with low arms. West Elm has a lot to choose from in this regard and most styles offer an array of fabric selections. An armless couch is not as practical from a seating perspective and for adding accent cushions.

I wouldn’t do armless. Too uncomfortable. Plus, how would you cozy-up in the corner on a chilly winter evening?

I wouldn’t do a sectional either for two reasons: too big and bulky, and only two people get armrests.

I would also not do armless, it’s far more comfortable to have a place to rest your arms. I would consider doing a sofa with low arm rests and 2 chairs, as opposed to a sectional or sofa/loveseat combo.
Here’s a sofa with low arm rests that looks nice from any angle.
