how do you know you've made the right choices??
Comments (6)"How did you handle it if the final result wasn't what you expected? Did you eventually grow to like it?" Our kitchen was done in bit and pieces, not all at once, so it was easier to tweak things over time. That said, I'm responding because I did NOT like the initial result. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. The cabinets were not as I expected them to look and it really bothered me for awhile. I had the cabinet maker add trim, change drawer fronts and do other things to get it closer to what I had been expecting. It took months. We apparently had a miscommunication somewhere up front (like he had false advertising!). It didn't cost me anything but I had to be persistant. Over time I finally got the kitchen to where I am happy with it but it took about a year. It happens sometimes. You see people on here buying one light fixture after another, or ripping out a backsplash, or repainting an island. I changed the floor! So how did I handle it? I kept working at it until I DID like the result. Good Luck and Keep Your Chin Up....See MoreWhat do you like Now that you didn't like Before?
Comments (26)For years I didn't care for potato chips or French fries though I liked potatoes prepared other ways, but the past few years there are times I crave them now. It's a combination of the oil/grease & salt. Rather than a certain food, I find that I now like specific dishes a lot more than I used to: stews, pot roast, sauerkraut, sausage, biscuits & gravy (notice the interest in heavy fat foods?) A kind of sad thing, I LOVED chocolate to the point of once buying & eating a whole BOX of Hershey's bars, & going to chocolate conventions for a few years. Now I've lost my taste for chocolate; I don't hate it, but I don't care if I have it or not, & when I do have a piece, it doesn't taste all that great. Calories I don't have to worry about, I suppose. It's also given me empathy for older people who have lost their taste for food....See MoreHow do you ask someone that you've known
Comments (10)It can happen at any age. I usually am fairly upfront and say I remember the face but can't place the name (or something like that). But I did have one on the 4th I just couldn't remember her to save my life. We were at a mutual friend's place and 3 hours later when she finally mentioned Fargo, it hit me who she was! I was too ashamed to admit it. Especially after Tom started to introduce us and Sharon goes "OH we know each other!!!!" Uh, yeah, uh, we do?? Let's see... I'll be back in a bit. I'd better go check the refrigerator for my car keys.......See MoreIf you've installed high-end LVP in multiple rooms--questions for you
Comments (4)I have purchased my flooring, but have not yet installed, but I did learn a lot along the way. Lesson 1 - Black top driveways have oils that can make your LVT turn yellow. Someone told me that they had to replace their white a year after buying it because there was a yellow trail from their garage to their kitchen. The staining was not covered under the warranty. The flooring stores acted completely clueless, the manufacturer was vague until I pinned them to an answer and then they admitted that there is a clause that does not warranty against "Environmental Staining". https://www.wolfeflooring.com/blog/why-is-my-floor-turning-yellow/ Lesson 2 - look at photos with a whole room completed with the flooring. A single board or sample may look great, but the color variations and patterns can vary a lot from board to board and may look really busy when all laid out. Lesson 3 - same flooring may be available under several names and different prices at different stores. I saved about 30% of the total cost by shopping around and taking advantage of a sale. Link to a discussion with more information. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5832512/lvp-help-sweet-talker-calypso-oak-sutton-or-royal-crest Lesson 4 - When I couldn't decide between 2 colors I ordered a box of each. The flooring store told me that if I buy both I can exchange the one I don't want for another box of the color I want. It was so much easier to decide with a whole box that I could set out and look at with my furniture and walls and fireplace....See MoreJoey T
