Different white wall colors be used as accent wall in a white room?

My living, dining and kitchen areas flow into each other. All room walls are BM simply white and the kitchen cabinets are white with mother of pearl backsplash. I want a white and light room so this is ok. I was wondering if to add a light color or another shade of white color on a small wall between kitchen and dining room. Something like accent wall but instead of a dark color, i want to use a another share of white wall or some kind of textured wall. Has someone tried this or have found pictures of rooms painted like this? I cannot find anything like this houzz so was not sure if this idea would work at all.

what about wall paper?

why does it have to be another shade of white?

why not go for a very pale, light color?

I love SW Sea Salt, it's one of my favorites. We had it in our master bath but needed a darker color due to the lighting. It's hard to say without a picture, but the first thing that came to my mind was to just go with the next color on the card which is Comfort Gray. Comfort Gray has the same feel and look as Sea Salt it's just darker and stands out a bit more. It's what we ended up using instead of the Sea Salt for that reason. I have a hard time seeing a bold color with the Sea Salt because it's a unique color in it's own right. Using the Comfort Gray will just enhance it.

Hi sorry no one has answered yet, did you go through with anything yet? I think it’s not easy giving advice on white without being there in person. However, there can be some clues like lighting conditions / direction of window facing, uou said you are using terracotta, so you can find something with an orange, red or yellow undertone in it and avoid anything with blue or green… unless you want it to stick out. I think you getting samples is a great idea. I found light colors arent easy because it can have indertones that you might or might not expect to show up & can look dofferent from room to room. Shoji white I think has green undertones, but depending on the light snd surroundings, it can look different. you can see how you like it and maybe play with some color cards on the fsn deck first and look at the darker version on each to see what undertones are at play, but thats just the start. Do update when your finished!

I am not a designer, but I personally dislike seeing white white on ceilings when the walls are a different shade (of white or a color). Especially standard "ceiling white". It makes the ceiling stand out too much. For white walls, I would prefer to use the same white. On the other hand, though, I am a big fan of subtle color on the ceiling and have seen many combinations of color, or a shade of off white, on walls with a complimentary pale color on the ceiling that looks terrific while not drawing attention to the ceiling. Just IMO. What would please your eye, or go best with your decor, may vary.

idk, but to check - have you looked at BMoore's complementing paint colors for Dove Wing/ White Dove? I don't think they'd have to be the same. Are new espresso cabs flat fronts - is kitchen contemporary? shiny handles or lights?

The modern farmhouse trend of white shiplap feature walls sounds like a version of what you are asking for. Not recommending shiplap, as that was done to death, but it would give you a sense of the effect of different texture/same color.

I think texture (or wallpaper) would work better than color, because the way you see color varies from wall to wall with the light. So the difference in paint colors would need to be different enough for it to look like more than that normal variation in how the same color looks on different walls of a room. I'm not sure if you can get enough contrast with whites. Maybe if your definition of white includes sufficiently off whites.

Something like white grasscloth wallpaper could be a nice accent. Or a paintable textured wallpaper.

Pick a single white. Yes...................one. I see no point in a switch to another white. Sounds to me, as though you want walls to be the sole answer to interest in your home. Consider the other elements: Rugs, art, the finishes on lighting, ...............in short? DECOR. A home doesn't live by walls alone. White, any white, is the backdrop for a bit more. ........whether that is other neutrals, other colors, other textures. Look beyond the walls.

To have another white makes no sense but if you want that wall to be different I agree a wallpaper with some texture would do it but again unless it is a color there is the issue of making whites work together.. I do agree with Jan that this can be considered but only after all the other elements are in the spaces. I much prefer a piece of art .
