NEED ideas for a princess bedroom!!!!!
Comments (13)I am also doing a princess room for my 5 yo in our remodeled home. My princess is a tomboy who adores dogs - so I am using pink and brown and keeping the bling subtle. I had a beautiful bedroom growing up that I helped my mom decorate - had rather sophisticated taste when I was 12 - the wallpaper was a beautiful french floral - there is a name for it but I am not coming up with it. It is in mauves and brown tones. I found a roll when I went home last summer and brought it back. I am going to frame out panels with moulding and use the panels as the background for two crystal sconces and for 3 sepia tone dog portraits I found. I found her chandelier and matching sconces at Dimples and Dandelions - not a bargain site but the best selection of chandeliers I have seen. THey also have some other great accessories. Her room is very small and to make the most of the space we ordered a custom playhouse bed. Her bed is on top of a cottage style playhouse with dutch doors and windows. That way she has all the floor space for playing. I had the bed primed but I am painting it - I was a fine arts major and I love projects like this. She has requested a picture of our golden retriever on the outside - I think this may be redundant considering the ACTUAL golden will probably be hanging out in her room quite often ;-) Does her canopy have side curtains? I have found that most little girls I meet love to sleep "inside" something with long curtains that give them a feeling of security. Have fun - I really love planning my dd's room. We will both have to post and compare the results! Mine won't be done until mid May. Comments (5)I used SW Netsuke in my dining room -- on the upper part above the plate rail and on the ceiling. The lower portion is SW Harmonic Tan. Both colors are on the same "color card" -- Netuske is two shades lighter. I think the color in this picture is pretty true. Both these colors change quite a bit depending on the light and time of day. Sometimes it appears very gold, and other times quite green, and even tan. I really like both colors, but hey, it's only paint, so an easy fix if you don't like it. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreHelp with daughter's bedroom.
Comments (15)We shifted themes a little, but I am please with the way her room turned out. The walls are SW silvermist, soft enough to not scream at you when you walk down the hall, but enough color to add personality. We still have some finishing touches to do, more things to hang on the walls, and the mirror above the dresser will be hung as well. My favorite part is the message board. I found this huge framed canvas at a thrift store for six dollars, the frame is very ornate. So I covered the canvas in a pretty fabric, added twine and clothes pins. It is far from peofrssional, but we had fun doing it together. The empty spot right at her headboard will have a framed picture from her birthday party this coming weekend. Comments (70)So I did a thing... I found a matching set of Kincaid Furniture nightstands for $50. The only thing wrong with them is they both have a little bit of paint peeled off on top, which is easy enough to fix. Otherwise they are perfect. It was a deal I couldn't pass up since Kincaid nightstands easily go for several hundred dollars a piece and these were the size I wanted. Sooo I guess we are going with black. lol. Here is a picture of one of the dressers. They will work for now, but we will likely keep an eye out for new ones. Husband is liking the black furniture. But we are going to have to work on brightening up the space if we do get black dressers too....See MoreP O
