Spa/Hot BathTub Water Garden
Comments (21)Hello I'm new to the site. I have been given a hot tub and i am trying to figure out how to turn it into a fish pond It cracked over winter so I'm just going to seal it.. It works ... So can I use the jets and it has a little built in waterfall ???I know the jets are powerful so I would have to find a way to weaken them.... Any ideas.... I would like to use as much as the original hot tub as possible ....See MoreTub or no tub? Opinions, please
Comments (27)Thanks, dabunch. I'm trying to think through all of this. Our doorways are all going to be wide enough for a wheelchair to come through straight on. If we add a shallow ramp, a wheelchair will be able to get from the front porch or garage into the house, then all around the LR/DR/kitchen, into the MBR and the master bathroom. A wheelchair will not be able to go into the master closet, but I don't forsee either of us living alone if we are in a wheelchair. I was at the cabinetmaker's shop yesterday at the same time a woman in a wheelchair was there planning her kitchen. So many things I would never have thought of...like the microwave not only lowered, but also not over a cabinet. Well, as Bette Davis so famously said, "getting old isn't for sissies." We're not old yet, but we are hoping to be. So we are planning for it....See MoreEMERGENCY CRY FOR HELP........Draining spa/hot tub tomorrow...
Comments (4)Preferably should let the chlorine level fall low and adjust pH to near neutral before draining onto plants. Can get a chlorine reducer if in a rush, otherwise cut off the chlorine and let it dissipate on it's own for something like 10 days.... probably less for just a spa. Should also avoid having it all drain onto just one spot. While we've done this for years without trouble, proceed with additional caution if you've been adding algicides, phosphate removers, or other treatments. Some of these can affect soil biology/chemistry in a bad way for several seasons.... unfortunately we have some experience with this, too....See MoreLandscape Design- tiny backyard - hot tub bought
Comments (11)There's a lot we can't tell in so few snippets of scenes, but a couple of considerations are showing up. That the air conditioner compressor is at the right of the deck, maybe near it is not a good place. I don't think listening to it while in the hot tub would seem all that relaxing. The yard at the left of the deck seems a bit larger and that side of the house seems to have few windows. It might have more potential for expansion of the outdoor living space and placement of the hot tub. It would be a matter of working out, in plan view, the size and arrangement that you're after....See MoreIndecisiveness
