Comments (37)Oh, you girls are making me hungry. I went to the grocery store tonight so we had rotiserie chicken from there. Good excuse to save the container for winter sowing, lol. Tomorrow I will make beef stroganoff with wine and mushroom sauce to make up the last couple of nights, lol. I can cook really good but its not as much fun to cook for just the 2 of us and I have gained a lot of weight from my hubby trying to make me eat all the time. His favorite is rice. If he doesn't have it at least once a day he thinks the world is ending. On weekends he eats it breakfast lunch and dinner. I actually miss potatoes, lol. I bought me a couple to bake for myself and load them with butter sour cream, cheese and bacon bits. Look out arteries, lol. Can you overnight me some of those sticky buns, lol. Make a great midnight snack....See MoreLiving Vicariously Through GW'ers Homes?
Comments (41)Jamies! That's so sweet that you remembered that room! Well, we got sidetracked by many, many things, but we're finally back in that dining room! I have a valance hung, plates hung, a few new accessories to add, the chandelier is being rewired as we speak, and I've started the makeover on that unfinished china cabinet!! I should have the primer on it by the weekend. It'll still be a few weeks before it's all together, but barring any more disasters or emergencies, it should definitely be (mostly) done by Thanksgiving. I'll be sure and post lots of pics when it's all together, and I really appreciate all of the advice that was given, especially about that chandelier. If it turns out even close to what's in my head, I think I'll be happy with it. I do live vicariously through this site!! There's a lot of styles and colors that aren't right for us, but I still appreciate them and always enjoy looking at a well designed room, even if it's not my taste at all. Those are the rooms I try to really study, rather than just dismiss as "not for me." I look at the colors, the lighting, the accessories, the proportions of everything, how the curtains are hung, the textures, etc., and try to take something away from that to be used in our home. What I like most of all, is seeing how regular, ordinary people that have the same resources as the rest of us problem solve in their homes. I'm always amazed at the creativity that people have! I like seeing how people deal with weird architecture (or lack of), weird windows, bad floorplans, bad lighting, small spaces, big spaces, and everything else that's not perfect and pretty. I feel like I'm new to decorating. We've always been renters, so we never even considered changing out fixtures, painting anything, or any of the list of things that are forbidden in a rented space. Some days I feel completely overwhelmed and lost by all of the choices and possibilities, and other days I feel like "YES! That looks great!"...See MoreI have Been in The ER all Morning......
Comments (11)Gosh Sue, those early morning calls always scare me. I bet you're tired..hope you can rest this evening and hope your dear mom can do the same. Just can't imagine living to 96..Wow! :)...See MoreDS Parke, met a kt'er today, and had to call me!
Comments (15)Well I'm still smiling, Glenda. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Parke today and it was a real hoot. (I admit that I did "play" with him a bit.) First of all, I want you to know that I think Parke is a charming young man and a son for a Mom to be proud about. I'd seen him several times over the past month or so as he whizzed past my office and I knew that he looked familiar to me. Today was actually the first chance that I had to stop him and we had a long talk. I thought I recognized him from photos that you posted but decided today that I wanted to confirm it. So...I had a very pleasant break in my day and a visit with a very nice and polite young man. That was a treat for me too and I hope you pass that along to Parke. And honestly Glenda, I thought you 'd mentioned here or either told me at some point that Parke used to post at the KT. In any case, when he kept blushing (Parke blushes!) and asking today how I knew him and you...I did tell him to ask him Mom to explain. So I dont think I divulged any "secrets" and you can breath easy. LOL...See More1929Spanish-GW
