Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Furniture layout help for oddly shaped room?

I have created a rough render to showcase the struggle. The brown door is the front door of the house that swings in. There are two windows upon entering through the front door on the right side of the room which can not be seen on the "real photo". The fireplace is in the corner on an angle and the wall behind it is flat. The archway represents the open area leading to the kitchen, yet is angled shown on the other photo.

My initial idea was to place the TV above the fireplace, but after some research I see that is not necessarily a desirable location and layout wise it makes it difficult to have seating facing that direction space wise. What is a possible layout here for seating (possibly a couch or sectional along with a chair) as well as a table and TV placement? Thank you immensely.

So as not to have furniture in entry path, I would do a well sized L sectional in this placement.

Or a sofa + chair - and a swivel chair could be a good option for this arrangenent. Sofa placed where red marking is, chair placed approximately where purple marking is.

With tv mounted, or placed on stand, on wall to left of fireplace. And I see there is an outlet right there.

If there is little room for a tv console, a stand like this could also be used. Plus, a mobile tv stand like this can be helpful - to adjust for tv viewing distances.

From your one photo, it is hard to get a sense of the available space for a tv in that spot there. But that is where I would place the tv.

If you have a dining room, another option could possibly be switching living room and dining room. So the dining room would be in front room by the fireplace. If you are able to have a flexible dining room setup, you could use a round table and folding chairs, and when not having guests over for dinner, could set front room up as entry foyer.

If you needed the space to be set up as dining room all the time, that works, also.

But would need pics of dining room and/or any other rooms that might possibly work - in order to determine the feasibility of making a switch.

I would have TV between FP and window and place seating furniture facing TV and FP from one side and creating entry way on another side.

You would need to leave that much room between the chairs (or sofa) to the windows. That's why I said to ignore it. You and others wouldn't even see it with the doors closed and the furniture layout as shown. It would look natural. I'm sure other posters and also pros will stop in with their solutions. You have a beautiful place with which to work.

Thanks Patricia, I'll upload a PDF with the room dimensions. As far as ditching the fan lights, I tend to agree with you. I hardly ever use the fan lights, it puts off very harsh light. I can't get rid of the fan though, I live near Houston and it gets hot here in the summer! I planned for the recessed lighting to be more for an accent and ambient lighting, just to brighten the room a little. I'm installing caseta dimmers and will probably have them dimmed to 20% or so most of the time and will probably have the ones near the kitchen off most of the time, which is why I'm splitting the lights into 2 circuits. I'm also toying with the idea of installing individual dimmers or relays to control each light individually. But when I have them all on at full brightness I don't want a bunch of shadows, so that's why I'm having trouble with the layout. I'm just not sure if I have enough lights and I also don't want my ceiling looking like a mini golf course, lol. I really prefer 3000K lights, I like how they are close to incandescent bulbs in color and the ones I have are 80 CRI which is average, but they look really good in my kitchen. There were existing 6" cans in the kitchen and I put surface mount halo led's in that are 3000K and the color in the room is very nice, to me. The rest of the house is much more contemporary so the furniture is all going. The reason for mismatched is because we moved from a house where we had separate eat in kitchen and dining room. we Need all that seating for the family until I can buy something that matches throughout. I have considered 2 long tables with a walkway between that aligns with the innermost door. new chandeliers relocated over each and keep A large cabinet in the alcove for storage. Maybe I’m just making it too complicated. Thanks for the feedback.

I'd start with a sofa facing fireplace and 4 chairs/coffee table. The chairs do not have to match and I would choose swivels for the two on the t v side.

The wall to the left of the fireplace is only 35 inches or so and is not wide enough to support a decent sized TV I don’t believe

Planning on getting new furniture, just something to have for the moment so these pieces aren’t necessarily what has to be manipulated as they are a bit bulky for the space.

You could put it over the fireplace, then - and use this mount. Mount lowers tv and also angles it. There is a motorized option as well.
