Liatris: Yes or No?
Comments (97)Actually, I think the Echinacea and the liatris are the ones that are inappropriately placed and surviving largely because they are just tough plants. The yew provides shade to the South-west. Also, I'm north of you, so the sunlight is less intense. I was hoping the bleeding heart would spread to beneath the yew. The spot is part shade and dry. Wasn't sure weather to plant shade-loving plants that like moisture or full sun plants that tolerate drought. The bleeding heart was a recent addition, so I don't know if it will survive long term. The bleeding heart looks good with the nodding onion, but doesn't really go with the liatris....See MoreNEW: June 'garden decorating rr'
Comments (55)Thanks MK! I sent Caperose my address three times by email (per her request by email each time). In her last email She said the box would be sent out ASAP. That was at least two weeks ago. No box still. Let me know if you find out anything. Thanks,...See Moreupdate: august hortiholics anon rr
Comments (43)I received my July box yesterday. Thank you pal for being so thoughtful. I loved everything and so did my furkids. There was a play mouse and meow mix for Bogartbaby and a bag of doggie treats for the rest of the gang. A nut and fruit seed bell for the birds outside,6 packs of seeds,2 candles, one was shaped like a flower and smelled wonderful, some garden gloves(one can never have enough gloves), a cute little teddy bear, flower pot tomato and a hosta"Sherman"(looks great, you sure know how to pack a plant),Anti bacterial hand gel(purse size) I always have one on hand,Avon-SSS hand mask(can't wait to try this),stained glass wind chime with a hummingbird on top,(hanging on my front porch already)and the most beautiful cross stitched kitchen towel and book mark(garden theme). You are very talented. We(my four legged kids and I)thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope that you will be blessed with everything good that life has to offer....See Morenew: garden decorating rr/oct. bulb/tuber swap!
Comments (81)Hello Diene When I worked full time at my 'career' I spent a lot more on skin care than that at a certain department store cosmetic counter. But these days my budget just wont stretch that far. (starving artist syndrome, ha ha) Anyway... it is still too warm here to plant bulbs, but I have planted over 100 daylilies and an equal number of TB Iris, mostly of the mixed NOID varieties, should be pretty exiting around here next summer. I have also planted Hostas and calla lilies and LambsEars. We were planning to plant a lawn this fall but without water it is just not practical, the clover and speedwell and plantain and wiregrass are getting a reprieve. Tracy Thanks again, my flowers have been lovely, but most of them (the annuals) bought the farm in July and August. With the water restrictions and 100+ degree temperatures I could not keep them alive. The perennials were started from seed last winter and held up much better but didn't bloom much. Next year will be better. I am planning to atart around 20 flats of drought tolerant and native perennial plants for next year... A garden is a work in progress, and my work is just begun. Frances...See Moredandy_line (Z3b N Cent Mn)
