What color to paint our shutters?
Hi everyone,
I would love your help with selecting the color for our shutters.
I am including photos of our current house (with reddish shutters) and one that inspired us to think about new colors.
We are redoing our roof this month and we have selected this Mountainside roofing color: https://www.owenscorning.com/en-us/roofing/shingles/trudefinition-duration-cool?color=mountainside
For the trim, we are thinking of going with Indigo Batik (Sherwin Williams): https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7602-indigo-batik
The stucco will be brighter/lighter white.
What color would you paint the shutters?
(And yes, I know I need to figure out a plan for landscaping, too!)

3 years agoSometimes I like shutters and sometimes I don't. In our case, I don't think they are adding anything and look "odd". I'd remove them if I were in your shoes. If you decide to keep them, they need to be flipped. You have what are called board and batten shutters and are hung like this:

Comments (11)I like your home without the shutters! IMO the tree on the right corner of your home, as you face the house, needs to go. From here it is too close the house. If you changed the landscaping to remove that tree and make larger planting beds, it would change your home's appearance. Get a good landscaping design co to put together a plan. Also widen your walkway and bring it out straight from the doorway so that people are welcomed into your home. This one is brick, but use a material that works for you. Comments (12)Talk about a cheapskate builder! There should be trim around the windows. The one single width window on the lower lever right looks naked without trim or shutters. Any chance you can locate a good finish carpenter to trim out the windows properly? (Seal at the top and sides not the bottom.) If you cannot find a trim carpenter (real estate agent usually have good contacts), the I would put that one back up. Take a look at Benjamin Moore's group of neutrals to find one that closely matches your siding, then check out the color they recommend to coordinate. Lots of browns, grays deep red and blues. Some of the shrubs need to be pruned back, especially near the entry. That will help focus on the entry. Please paint out the door trim to match your door, which will also help.
