I'd place the desk on a 45-degree angle with your back to the corner that it's in now. And I'd move the little console to another wall so it's not in the walkway.

Couldn't figure out what was what from the drawing.

I think it depends on how the room is used. My initial suggestion would be to rotate the desk 90 degrees clockwise so that it is perpendicular to the wall between you and your boss. However, the photo shows a visitor chair for someone to sit opposite you at the desk. If that chair is used it puts it directly in the path between your boss's door and the outer office door.

The drawing shows a waiting area with couch and table, though I do not see it in the photos. If you do get people waiting in your reception area, then the desk needs to be positioned so that they cannot see your computer screen. The same with people walking past the glass partition.

If any of that makes the 90 degree rotation impractical, then the 45 degree suggestion would make more sense.

Thanks Nick - yes the floor plan they shared with me has a couch on it but there's no couch here since I started. There's those 2 pot plants in its place.

i do have the odd person sit on the other side of my desk so I need to have that capability. But if I face forward then my boss can come out of his office and see my screen...

I'm not sure what perpendicular means, it is like the drawing by Jan? I was thinking that too, wasn't sure if it will look strange on an angle though.

I've got the monster printer to deal with as well and all the cords which is a challenge!

I will definately take down the art and shelves as I dont think it lines up with the desk location...

My boss's door is actually directly in line with the entry door. it's in red on the plan, they didn't make it too clear on there. But it's a straight line down the walkway with that hideous cupboard with the pink flowers on it that needs to go :)

Perpendicular means at right angles, so I was suggesting having the desk along the same line as the path between the doors. The printer could be behind you, pretty much where it is right now. In terms of information security, I think the fact that your boss can see your screen is not so much of an issue as visitors and others being able to see it.

I can buy a new desk in a different shape too, either an L shape or plain rectangle.
