I have quartz and the warranties of all of them are probably worthless. I have no idea what could go wrong after install. Small imperfections aren't covered, as spelled out in their warranty. Make sure you view your slabs. Quartz is a hard surface and won't break over 3% less quartz particles. I think durability is the resin's job. I had a chipped tooth resin-bonded and it's lasted me 20 years so far. As long as it's Breton, I'd buy it. It doesn't matter which country it's manufactured in, as long as it's not China, where you never know what you're getting from knock-off Breton technology. I was told by a manager at Pental that the Chinese don't cure the resin as long or at as high temperatures as Breton specifies. Pental sells Vicostone, made in Vietnam.

a large local development went with the cheaper chinese 'quartz' product...the quartz/resin proportions were 70/30, a far cry from the industry standard of 93/7 for the main brands. This development has had tons of problems with the counter tops...they looked good to start but they have not performed well over time. Now, China makes a lot of stuff (really :-) ) and different manufacturers there may have different ratios, so you will need to determine if this batch is of the better high quartz type or the other. Notwithstanding the wage costs in china (which are rising fast) there are generally other reasons why some products from china are so much cheaper... caveat emptor capian

R S Any sealer will harm the quartz surface it simply does not bind. Here are two photos from different jobs where we have had to repair the damage form sealers or color enhancers.... This is why they do not work.....! The cloudiness in the photo above is attempting to clean the surface and because the sealers do not bind or set, they are then impregnated with the cleaning compound. Which causes them to set. The issue is why they used it in the first place. They had etched the surface from using products like Gumption, BKF and Mould and Scum remover as most of the off the shelf cleaners including Green, Organic and Earth choice etc are all caustic. Meaning they have Sodium Salts in them and therefore have a high pH level. These will damage any stone or surface overtime... so it is not isolated to quartz. Formica is satin finish or matte, and why it will not show the damage but formica is basically cardboard that is printed and heat treated and attached to a timber or mdf substrate. Again my question would be WHY not if I can use it! Use the correct cleaner and you will be fine.... just remember that the likes of Caesarstone and they are not the only ones... Actually void their own warranties by recommending products that are outside the the pH levels or are solvents, harsh chemicals or abrasives. All of which void any manufacturers warranties. If push come to shove, they have left themselves liable for having the stone replaced at their expense. As what they are recommending on one hand , voids the warranty in the other. You have hit the nail on the head, why we would only recommend four major manufactures and you have named one. Note we have NOT NAMED any in this thread! ...........Forgive me...... I’m embarrassed to say that I can’t recall off the top of my head the MSI that we used in three bathrooms. But it is very nice and my son in law saw it over the Fourth of July and warned his young brothers in law that they would have to be very careful. He thought it was marble, lol. Now, I’m not fooling myself. It doesn’t look like marble. But, it does look very nice and most importantly the price was right.
