Thanks! You’ve given me a good place to start researching I’ve seen asters around, blooming late summer/early fall. I’ll remove this plant from the places where it doesn’t work for me and keep an eye on the rest to see what the flowers look like. It’s nice that, unlike 90% of the plants ids I’ve submitted, this plant isn’t something I have to add to my evergrowing “get rid of that now” list.

Emily You are right about the names...I wish there was really reliable site with correct names and no synonyms! - but that is probably impossible. On top of that, many 'made-up' names just to attract ppl to purchase different-looking plants - and they are often just grown n different conditions. Tricolor has mostly green and yellow leaves, with occasional white/almost white: Mine get purplish color on leaves when outside, in lots of sun: Lemon & Lime have been also more greenish, but much more colorful in sun - below are pics of same plant (1st pic is when purchased): Blooms are of no help - they were white, just as 'regular' green jade or Hummel's Sunset. They all get pinkish as they age: Hummel's - Lemon & Lime - green C.0.

Villain Rose...if you cook curries, I'd encourage you to keep it. A very common (even weedy) plant in India, the leaves are fried along with black mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and fenugreek before adding the onions/garlic/ginger/chillies. I wouldn't be without it. Also used in Ayurvedic medicine. (Although that may not interest you!)

Floral, I’m sure there are grapevines in the background (along with other undesirable vegetation). My brother and I have been trying to get rid of them for awhile. Sadly, our intervention is largely triage so we miss a lot. However, I doubt that the plant is a grapevine, at least not one that I’ve seen in that garden. Christopher, I’m not familiar with what trees self-sow in this area, but maybe I can figure it out. Or wait until it leafs out.
