I have the Haan and have now used it on vinyl, ceramic tile and hardwood. It definitely worked well on the really old vinyl in our old house. It never looked clean, but it definitely felt much cleaner when I was done mopping with it. Our new house has ceramic tile in the kitchen and bathroom and recently refinished 50 year old red oak floors throughout the rest. I do think that I can do a more thorough job on my hands and knees with a bucket and microfiber towels, but the Haan does a pretty good job of cleaning the floors well enough to put my crawling baby on them and not cringe. The aforementioned crawling baby doesn't often give me enough time to get down on my knees with the bucket anyway, so the Haan is a good compromise for us. I really need a bunch of extra pads for it, though, as it only comes with 2. My only other complaint about it is that the head is rather tall which makes it hard to slide under furniture or cabinets.

I needed a steam cleaner/mop...so i got both. I think i got my Shark steam mop at target...or some similar retailer. Mine did not come with the carpet attachment. It's pretty flimzy plastic...i could break it by twisting my wrist too much while cleaning...but otherwise i think it delivers. You have to wait for it to heat up...then VIGOROUSLY ram it up and down to build up some steam....then go at it. I use it for linolium kitchen floors. It spits a little...leaves some watery spots...but i don't see these as a finishing tool...more about cleaning....which it does VERY VERY well...while sanitizing. Its a no brainer...and worth the money...but don't kid yourself...its a piece of cheap plastic sold on an infomercial. Steam cleaning is essential...i recommend investing in a pro cleaner as well. Thanks, chi, Bona is the name I forgot. Wood definitely has grain patterns but i don't think the physical undulations shown in the photo are normal. The second row from the top has quite a dip where the two boards abut, there's even a shadow from the light. If you don't like your color, consider calling in a wood floor re-finisher to see if the material you have can be sanded down and refinished using a lighter color. Some can, some can't, it depends on what the material is. The guy who put in our wood floor a dozen years ago (it's solid wood, not a laminate or manufactured wood product) said that nothing wetter than "slightly damp" should ever be applied. He said for cleaning products, the dust mop should be sprayed, not the floor. We do that rarely, but vacuum often. I'm not sure what purpose a steam cleaner performs. If you do have a tile or other floor that can take so much wetness, it can be well cleaned with vinegar or a product containing bleach. No floor truly needs to be "sanitized". Simple Green is also very good for water safe floors and doesn't attack grout sealers as some cleaners do.

I have a Shark also but I only use it on the bathroom tile. I like it ok. As boath observed, you cant stand it up so I have improvised other ways to let it cool before removing the pad. I have a hook it hangs on for storage, so I just put it there for a few minutes and it’s fine. I will never ever buy another Bissell product. Everything I have bought of that brand (including one steam mop that leaked like crazy before the warranty expired) ends up as junk in a couple of years.
