How many people live with you?

Do you want to have a dedicated dining area? If so, how many people will be eating there?

If you live alone, the solutions will be different than if you live with family members.

Possibly a rug to define space and add texture.

Could you post a floor plan. The sofa is hogging your space. If possible, I would return it and find something more comfortable and better fit in the space. You need a rug and lighting. If keeping the sectional, a small round coffee table is all you can fit. Is the sectional currently facing the white console? You have a cute, modern vibe going on. I’d like to better understand size of room.

Is that a Possini ceiling light fixture that you have? It’s beautiful.

@flo I don't have a floor plan. I think I'm stuck with the sofa... I added few more pics to show the full room. What shape of rug round or square? Sofa is facing the white console and I plan to put a TV up above it on the wall.

I tried finding good prices for most items. That white narrow table would fit against the wall by moving sectional out from wall 8”. It would let everything breath. When furniture is pushed against wall it feels cramped.

Thanks a lot!! This gives me some inspiration for what pieces/how it could be arranged... I like the chair, gives it a pulse, and the floor lamp, also positioning of the lamp - I'd never thought to put it there, but it works. :)

The arc lamp there also distracts the eye from that structural column. That rug is $99!! About 7 x 9. Not sure on your measurements but rug should sit at least 6” under sofa and 6-12” beyond sides if possible.

Not sure where you are located but Target has upped their home goods decor items a lot while keeping prices manageable. Good luck!

Design step 1: choose inspirational photos of rooms you like

Design step 2: create a floor plan, based on the space and how you function.

Adding decor and accessories is one part of design.

Doing anything before that is useless.

From what I can eyeball, a sectional is not the best choice here. A small sofa would be better. Not sure if you can remove the corner from this?

Then, you have a couple of options:

1) sofa facing the wall parallel to kitchen. It needs to be pulled out from the kitchen. (So where it is now, but pulled out some).

2) Sofa facing wall where the short leg of the sectional is now. Sofa would have its back to the patio wall and floated out from the door between kitchen and opening to patio.

I appreciate your input and I always try to get measurements of spaces from posters. Ivana wasn’t able to provide so we do what we can with photos. Ivana, just make sure anything you buy going forward is returnable. When purchasing rugs on line, I always order smallest size available to check out true colors in their homes with their light and other elements. Then if it works you can order the size you need. Easier to ship back small rug. Check out sites like esalerugs; rugs.com. Both have “see in your room” features. Houzz has good rug options too.

Hi. Without measurements, I cannnot tell you exactly, but I would recommend one of these 2 floor plans.
