Comments (4)Thank you I think you have nailed it- i will add a picture of the tree we have in the garden. I actually compared the leaves the other day and they were so similar just different textures I just thought it couldn't possibily be a tree as there are so many I thought it must be a weed. Sadly there is no more room for trees so I best dig them all up and thanks for the tip even the small new growth was hard to pull up so not looking forward to the larger ones!!!...See MoreHelp identifying this plant (weed?)
Comments (3)A few weeks later, this plant has flowered. You were jus about right, floral_uk -- I'm pretty sure it's Silene noctiflora, Night-Flowering Catchfly. I've never seen this before, but here it is, just started blooming, and only at night....See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
