Help identifying this plant/weed. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello, I am new here and thankful to have found this site. I have many plants due to flood irrigation and have just touched on foraging. As I started identifying so many different ones, I have decided If it's not an evasive weed/plant and a healthy edible I would like to continue to grow some of them. This one in particular I am having a hard time with. I thought it to be ragweed but leaves are not lobed at all then came across info on Marestail. I read it could be harmful to dogs. Since my son comes with his dog often and I just love her so much I don't want to risk her eating it. I am going to pull up later today after work unless it's not what I think it is. I did compare with pics of Goldenrod but I don't think it is that. I live in central Boise, Idaho. Thanks in advance for any help. I will probably be coming here often until I get this yard thinned out.

I know this is not the appropriate place to post this but I just want to say goodbye to Floral UK, Garden gal and everyone who was from the old Gardenweb forum. I have been a member of that old forum and then one day it changed to this houzz site. I cannot make new post anymore in this forum, maybe because I am not a pro user or something, so I am going to join other garden forum to make new post and ask my questions there. I hope everything is fine with you floral uk, ken, and everyone else, and life is treating you good. Goodbye my old friends I will be missing you guys.

It's a physalis of some variety, not sure exactly what species. Some are desirable plants (tomatillos) and others are pretty weedy and aggressive.

Thank you I think you have nailed it- i will add a picture of the tree we have in the garden. I actually compared the leaves the other day and they were so similar just different textures I just thought it couldn't possibily be a tree as there are so many I thought it must be a weed. Sadly there is no more room for trees so I best dig them all up and thanks for the tip even the small new growth was hard to pull up so not looking forward to the larger ones!!!

A few weeks later, this plant has flowered. You were jus about right, floral_uk -- I'm pretty sure it's Silene noctiflora, Night-Flowering Catchfly. I've never seen this before, but here it is, just started blooming, and only at night.

Bunny, I’m not a pro. I just post as I always have. What exactly is preventing you from posting here on GardenWeb? What happens when you try? Maybe we can offer some suggestions.

Thank you jay 6a Chicago, especially after looking back at all the time I spent looking. I actually came across that plant in researching and dismissed it. I think because of the photo's showing the red color in the fall. I am not sure if the red one is a different sub-species from this one but most likely I have pulled it in the past before it could get to that point. I did not got around to pulling it as it was irrigation night so I will wait to see if it turns red this fall. There are some small tender ones that have come up, maybe I'll drum up the nerve to give them a taste test.

I took photo's of other plants last night that still elude me and I will post those soon in new threads. Thanks again for your help it is much appreciated.

No hacking involved.........just a spammer and the posts need to be flagged and removed!

It happens now and again. And this is the second thread visited with links to various druggy websites.

I flagged them all as spam but more people need to do so to get them noticed.

I flagged them as well....and on the other thread they were appearing. I always flag spam, which tends to show up mainly on just a couple of forums.
