Who advised you against the bamboo in the kitchen? I had it in my kitchen for many years...I've since moved but am told it is still looking great. Check with the manufacturer to see what is advised.

I wouldn't put the wood-look tile next to the bamboo. Either use the bamboo, or pull up the bamboo and do all the floors in the wood-look tile, or choose a different tile (not wood-look). If your heart is set on that tile, my vote would be the one toward the bottom of the picture, as it looks a bit warmer in the image.

Can you post pictures of the cabinet colors, the potential countertops you are considering, and the wall color? You appear to be playing with cool and warm tones, so images would be helpful...

I think you can do gray, just not wood look planks. I would do a rectangle or square.

Maybe a slate gray could work?

All great questions. we are using cabinets that are the same as pictured below with potentially same countertops as pictured too.
the problem is we recently moved in and those bamboo floors are newer so I would hate to rip them up.The kitchen definitely be cooler colors. I'm wondering if like an ivory tile could be a good transitional flooring option?
Did they hold up well? I had three contractors and my friend advise against any wood in the kitchen. But perhaps I can keep some extra planks to replace ones if they get wear and tear? I have 2 little ones so I think everyone just thinks they will mess them up.

Many on this forum love wood floors in kitchens. My parents have bamboo on the whole first floor and it's pretty great. I think the bamboo you have, if you know which product it is, would be pretty nice.

That countertop is white and the cabs are cool gray so don't choose an ivory colored tile!

The wood tones look good with crisp white (more on the blue side). Gold/orange likes to sit next to white, either crisp or cream (yellow based). But it does NOT like to sit next to gray. It takes a VERY special designer (ahem...the one that none of us can afford) to get golden wood to work with muddy grays.

I would go WHITER with the floors than what you are showing. Your cabinet choice is showing BLUE-gray. That's fine. One of the PRETTIEST floors you can put next to 'wood tones' = blue slate! I kid you not. As you've noticed you can go DARK blue or you can go WHITE-blue. Notice the 'blue' in both? Yep. Cause blue helps 'set up' the gold tones and the gold tones help set up the blue tones. They make each other pop. I would stay away from the gray and stick with white or super dark blue.

You mention little kids so a almost white floor sounds like a nightmare. Do the bamboo or get slate. Real slate is gorgeous, there are some great looking faux slates out there, even lvt ’slate’ could work.
