I cannot help with the spray gun plan, but I would echo what Charina said. I use a home made version of the device in this link. It is: - 5 gallon bucket - drip lines made with smallest gauge standard drip line - hole drilled in the bucket to closely match outer diameter of drip line - inside the bucket, a coupler is attached to the end of the hose. This makes the drip line flare, so that pulling on it tightens it against the hole in the bucket. - attached to the coupler is a pill bottle that has holes drilled in it. It is filled with aquarium floss (like pillow filling), that acts as a filter. - On the watering end, I have micro valves to control the flow. Basically, they are little quarter-turn valves. I can try to dig them up online if you are interested. This works great for me, BUT I am only doing individual trees and a 12' blueberry raised bed. I would guess you would need many more buckets or larger vessels. Also, larger tubing probably more akin to the PVC ones in Charina's vid. Maybe you could calculate gallons needed per sq ft? It is pretty easy to just fill up the buckets and walk away. Plus, it is a slow watering so you have less run off. Let me know is my description is confusing... I can take pictures. Hi Tina, I don't know of the peroxide solution you're looking for but I have some experience with damping off. There is a product called "No Damp Off" which is suppose to work miracles, but I haven't been able to find it in my area. I tried the cinnamin thing last year. It didn't help a bit (nothing like the smell of mold and cinnamin :P). A few things I've done this year: I have an overhead fan going on low all the time (air flow seems to help); don't water plants from above - let the water seep in from the bottom of the container. I also have been putting a layer of spaghum (sp)moss on the tops of the soil of my seedlings which has limited damping off significantly; I also bought a product called SAFER which is suppose to help fight off soil diseases. I have had a good experience with that so far. Hope this helps! Boo

I suggest you use copper pipe hold downs with copper nails for holding down the feed tubing. Also, instead of having the tubing down next to the ground why not install a wire/cable down the center of the beds about 2 feet above everything. Then tie wrap the feed hose to the wire, install your emitters and stand back... lol A 1/2 hose feed line with a 20 psi regulator can service at least 200 emitters. (I've heard up to 600) So one timer/filter/regulator should work for your whole setup if you connect the beds together. Don't forget to install a back flow unit at the head of your feed line as you don't want any water back-flowing into the house water system. It has to be at the highest point in the system. The end of the feed line should be at the lowest point in your water system so the input line can completely drain.

This is getting good! allison, for a trip, the European product sounds like it would be more effective. jlj, I've read people put Miracle Gro on roses, I have plenty, but hesitate to use too much as I've already applied Mills Magic and compost. Other than that, the one advantage to the bottles is it gets closer down to the roots and not as likely to water weed seeds near the surface. The other methods will indeed work and may try them. Last year I ran out of pepsi bottles for rooting roses and use them to start seeds in the ground with a little well scooped out and put in some potting soil in small areas. That method at this season, tops should be off for venting and you cut off the bottoms and screw them in. I only had to water about every 3 days as opposed to 3X a day to keep the soil moist enough for my seeds to germinate (some seeds don't like to be transplanted, and I was trying to grow florist gypsophilia - banned in some western states!). Yay, I finally have some buds after waiting 3 years. A person on the perennials forum told me to scratch some chalk dust in the soil. Um, I've been known to buy bottles at the supermarket when I run out. I mean 5 cents, pretty cheap gardening equipment. People in my state don't usually recycle soda bottles in trash but turn in at supermarket for deposit refund, but I do go through trash if I see something I need or might use. Sometimes I don't want it and offer it on Freecycle saying that it was rescued from trash, a twin stroller w/one broken wheel tagged airline ticket stub (prolly reimbursed in full by ins), a really nice office chair, a Lane Bryant leather coat w/small tear (those people got evicted). Oh, and a swivel desk chair that wasn't a good fit at my puter. People are glad to get a lot of things. Now if I could just find those bigger bottles. I don't usually drink that stuff.
