New Porch/Entrance. Not sure which direction to go in or how to hire!

Husband and I bought a 1987 transitional on the water. House is in good shape overall but the front porch/entryway is an exception. It's decorative only (abuts a 2-story foyer, no way to walk on the balcony.) Construction is flimsy EIFS. We are definitely going to paint the exterior and replace the front door, possibly the garage doors as well (or might paint them). I'm not sure where to start with the entryway. Do we need an architect? Or just a builder? Stylistically I'm open to anything - the interior is very transitional and would accommodate a number of different styles. Stone arch? Square stone? Brick? Wood with a slanted roof instead of a balcony? Two arches one over the window one over the door? An extended porch. I'm clearly all over the map. willing to stretch the budget for this project because we know curb appeal really matters. Should we hire an architect to start, or a good builder? I really don't know who to reach out to or what costs will look like for this.
