Comments (38)I would suggest when you do paint the house that you paint the whole house first with that strip painted out so he can see it without and paint that piece of the trim last as then you can see how it would look without and with it. Well what I was trying to say is your house does lean towards the spanish revival and you keep saying you want spanish and not tuscan, mexican etc. and really what is spanish color theme tends to be white or a very light color that reads white with a darker trim color such as brown, or more very muted colors. Landscaping makes a huge difference in how a house looks too. What I'm wondering is if you really have settled in your mind what you want the house to be or if you really need the house to be one particular style. Many color will work for your house as long as you pick something that works with the roof color. Maybe it is your mentioning spanish that throws me off. BTW if you look at the picture I posted it is a very simple style except for the tower and the other items are things your house has or will have too. You have arches, you have the curved wall, the raised trim, you're adding a pergola (not a porch like in the house shown). You could on your gable sides add corbels either dark stained wood or faux looking wood like you're planning for the garage door. If you look at a spanish villa - they tend to be white, with tile roofs, mainly boxy. Some have arches, some have railings that are often white and look like concrete formed (don't know the correct terminology). I guess I would ask yourself do you want the spanish look, or does it really matter and should you just go with a color that you like and not worry about trying to keep to a particular style?...See Morecan we try this again? Comments (23)I didn't mean to do that. I worked on the floorplan a while after malhgold posted about two islands and didn't see your response before posting it. So, here is what I think - unvarnished. I would want to have my back to the blank wall at the living room and look out through either window and the morning room while prepping and be able to pop out to greet people who wandered into the kitchen. So I would locate the prep space and a sink in an island that faced the outdoor porch off the morning room with seating between the island and the porch. I think I would place the clean up zone against the porch wall so it wasn't quite as far away from the dining room and the morning room. I would store the dishes in or immediately next to the cleanup zone. Refs are a quandary in that space because of its sheer size. I would be very tempted to close the opening on the living room wall and push the opening to the hall wall two or three feet away from the living room wall and park the ref and a food pantry there. I'm another who doesn't see the need for the frzr to be anyplace in particular, except that its probably your source of ice or if you freeze vodka. Kids love refs and microwaves, so I might start a kids prep with a wave they could use (someday) in the center section that juts out by the hall and have their dishes, dry snacks and paper products there. I wouldn't do the bake center inna cabinet because I would feel too constricted by its sides (like trying to mix in a small closet) and its doors would get in my way when open. (Altho it would do a splendid job of hiding the turbochef.) I might do an under-counter appliance lift for the mixer. I could find enough space on the island to mount one. Eventho I think lifts are really good solutions, I might instead do a deeper counter (30") on one wall with self-storing lift doors on part that disguised a mixer and flour canisters and such like stuff on the countertop because I think it would be easier to keep clean, organized and accessible. A good undercounter beverage ref is only two-thirds of the cost of your faucet:) Icemakers run $500 to $1500. If you entertain a lot, either can make sense. Good luck with your build....See MoreCan we talk E-Readers again please?
Comments (27)wow sorry I had never seen that I was asked a question and never answered it. I bought my pandigital novel at bed bath and beyond they can be bought at many locations which are listed on their website including Radio Shack and Kohl's. Mine ran me right at $100 with their 20% off coupon and a rebate. The one I have is the 7" white tablet. It is a full android tablet now with their latest update so you can access apps from the android market, you can surf, email, play your music, watch videos, youtube etc, pretty much everything you can do on a laptop. If you are familiar with any of the android phones it is very similar. I thought if I was going to pay over a hundred dollars for something I wanted it to do as much as possible not just be an ereader which is why I went with this PDN. The ereader part is excellent also and since you can now use android apps you can use the kindle app to read kindle books and the nook app, lots of ereader apps are available so you can choose the one you like best gives you lots of flexibility. It of course does have wifi connectivity which works great. We have had several very long threads about the PDN and ereaders over on the computer help forum, you can search the topic there and find much more. There are a lot of people on GW that got Pandigitals too. the lookbook reader I got at CVS pharmacy when they had them on for $49 it only does ereader functions and does color and have wifi and is linked with the kobo bookstore. http://www.pandigital.net/...See MoreLukki Irish
