Need help with trim, shutter and front door color selection
Comments (11)Is the paint color an off white (cream)? If so, you color options are basically endless, depending what color your roof is or if you have any brick or stone on the house. When choosing paint colors for my house a couple of years ago, I kept in mind the color of stone on the front of my house, the brick on my chimney color, and my green roof. I then went to Behr's website and played with color combinations and found something that both my husband and I agreed on. With the color of your house in mind and what looks like a dark roof, maybe black, there are so many color combinations you could go with. Here are some photos for inspiration: I absolutely love the colors on this house. More importantly--What colors do you and your family love? Next is a photo of my house since I could not find any other photos that would suit your house on Houzz. I chose paints from Behr Marquee and the house color is Taupe Tease, trim is Superior Blue (my husband's favorite color), and the doors are Fire Cracker Red (my favorite color): All 3 colors work well together and work with the roof, brick, and stone colors as well. I also chose colors that no one else had in our neighborhood....See MoreI am working on replacing the glass on my front door and sidelights.
Comments (1)I love front facing gable trim to “outline” the house. Don’t paint the metal roof! and don’t change the front door color. It’s the window trim which needs attention. Paint the window trim and all the trim the same as the metal roof. And the vinyl applied “vents” on each gable, those should be removed....See MoreNeed advice on color selection for front door and window shutters.
Comments (4)I’ve always liked this Houzz photo, they don’t mention the colours used though. Is your roof brownish or grey? You want it to go well with your flowering plants too....See MoreFront Door Selection/Color Help
Comments (16)It's personal preference but I like the whole thing painted the same color (i.e. framing around the door and sidelights same color as the door. The white framing around my door is vinyl so it is not painted, but you can see that the wood framing on the door and sidelights are the same blue. I suggest getting referrals for a landscape designer (unless you have some talented gardening friends). Even if you don't follow their suggestions plant-by-plant, they can give you great ideas. OR, you can post separately under Landscaping to see what the talented Houzzers suggest. I agree that the front needs something "inviting" but not necessarily a sitting area....See MoreH L
