Our solution to tiny back entry design dilemma
Comments (3)This is super adorable! My first home was also a circa-1960s ranch bungalow (also in Canada) with that type of rear entry - I think it is ubiquitous across homes of this era in Canada and as you know it can get a bit crowded, especially in winter with all the added necessary winter gear - and I wish I had thought of something as clever as that shoe wall. We just had one of those little cuts outs in the lower part of the wall where we piled our shoes instead. Great job!...See MoreRUGS! Need help choosing entry rug and runner! What are the rules?!
Comments (3)THE RULE Is don't make a second post!! Go to a real carpet store, ask to see stair runners that come in 36 inch widths.Have it made to the length you need and backed with non skid. Or look at area rugs in 3 x 5 for the entry if that fits.. No doormat sizes. Ready made runners will be too narrow for your space No to the rug under table. You need an 8 x10 and I doubt that fits. Nothing is far better, than a too small rug....See MoreWhat size and shape rug for entryway/ foyer? Advice please
Comments (3)Definitely too small! I am also not loving the round shape. I would get a larger rectangle rug and lay it so the length runs perpendicular with the entry door. Something similar to this......See MoreEntryway rug size and color
Comments (3)Sorry, I didn’t get a notification you’d posted! Are you thinking you’d like more of a door mat size there? Lots of choices that would look good — check out CB2, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, etc if you haven’t already. I know you said not another runner, but I really love this: https://www.westelm.com/products/lcl-tantuvi-terra-hemp-handwoven-runner-d13493/?pkey=call-rugs Another that would be interesting is a Kilim rug. eSaleRugs carries Afghan ones, I bought one for my house and my dad’s house. Each is hand made, no two are exactly alike. https://esalerugs.com/rugs?query=kilim&collections=kilim%20afghan This is similar to mine in my office: https://esalerugs.com/gold-3x4-kilim-afghan-area-rug-22172194?pos=74&rt=aisle They slip, so definitely need rug pads. Hopefully others see this and chime in with more suggestions....See MoreCindy Isberg
