Design Dilemma Paint

What color to paint the garage door?

I have a replacement garage door coming because the current one is rotted. The house was recently painted, but I let the painters ignore the GD since I knew I was replacing it soon.
I was planning to have the new one painted white to match the rest of the house, but I don't think it looks all that bad in the current color. What do you think? Blend in white or same/similar gray?

I think the gray looks good and goes with the roof. You cold also have it white to blend. I would not do it the blue of the front door. The front door is an accent and you do not want to accent the garage door. Cute house. Hope you got the same style garage door.

I really like the blue front door.

Since you don't see you garage doors when looking at the front of the house, I would think you could do something different with them and paint them an interesting contrasting color. I agree that if they showed from the front, I would paint them the same as the house. Our garage in an ell behind the house (we have a L shaped driveway that goes along the side of the house and then turns and goes behind the house so the garage is not seen from the street) and the doors are painted the same color as the front and side doors: red! The house is a sage green with darker sage trim. It was this way when we bought it, so it wasn't my idea, but it looks good. I will be changing the style of the doors to a carriage house type and will then have to decide about color. But I can postpone that decision for a while :)

You mean how they are 4/1 and the rest are 1/1? That's why regular people like me shouldn't be allowed to make decisions like that haha. That's a two-part answer. Here's a picture of the original house, You can see that big window on the left, which is a bedroom. I wanted to keep some resemblance to the original look, but also didn't want any dividers on the windows of the living room (center section). So I chose the 4/1 windows for the left part and the front door also has a 4 pane window on the top half, although you can't see that in the new picture. The garage doors were also originally planned on coordinating that look, but when we got the quote for those we opted to keep the existing garage door. We did consider adding some dividers to the garage doors to make them look like 4 squares. (I can't remember what those muntin things are called). Should we do that? Would it help tie it in?

Contrast is the key. I really like the dark grey front door mock-up. I would explore matching the garage door with that color.

I like the current color and since it is a factory finish it should last. I would paint the front door yellow.

Here are some Benjamin Moore yellows I like.

So what color is the door you've ordered? I tend to think a similar color to what you have is best, and then change the front door color to something with higher contrast - red or yellow maybe.

Either the current gray or white would be nice. I'm leaning toward white so a color on your front door would pull more focus. As jck mentioned, I hope you got the same style garage door. Really like how the glass mimics your front door. Cute house!

The GD will come with a primer (it's wood) and it will look the same as the current GD. I don't want to paint it blue - agree on the notion that the front door should be the focal point and don't want to take away from it. Thanks for the suggestions. Still something to be thinking about ...

I would add pots with a small evergreen or trellis on either side of the garage that match either the current blue or whatever you change it to.

It's actually a rental, so I don't think pots along the sides would work (tenant is not likely to water it). But a previous tenant had done that (not with a topiary, but I think agapanthus were in them). It is a nice idea though.
