Please help settle a debate - Will this pink bed work with pink walls?

My daughter's bedroom is a very pale pink, called "Benjamin Moore Pink Essence" (which is just a hint of pink). I am about to buy her a "big girl bed" and before I pull the trigger, would this pink upholstered daybed work? I think it would be a nice compliment to the walls....same pink tone, but a darker shade (I'm hoping! I can return if it doesn't work). I plan on getting white bedding with pink piping/edges and monogrammed pillows (and some "fun" kid sheets of her choice). Her bureaus are also white. I'm going for a very feminine, soft look. I'll add in additional pops of color with the sheets, throw pillows and artwork.

My husband thinks you can't have a pink bed if the walls are also pink.

Thoughts? Does this bed work if the walls are also pale pink, but lighter?

To answer your question, yes - you can put a pink bed in a pink room. But, Its really hard to say without seeing the paint and the bed together, as pinks can run peachy, blueish, purpleish, etc..; plus, the strength of the pigment will make a difference. If the pinks are slightly off, you can always use an area rug and artwork to pull the colors together.

So many good suggestions still coming in--appreciate that. I won't be ordering until after Thanksgiving (or maybe after Xmas), so I'm open to any more beautiful ideas. I'm looking them all up. Some I kinda know. But I don't know much of anything about Mrs. Dudley Cross, cherrykist. Is it hardy in Zone 6? HMF say Zone 7--but I know it is sometimes rather conservative on hardiness. And I'm not sure about its height since HMF says 3-5 ft (or something like that). What is your experience--does it stay around 3 ft? Hi all! I finished several projects and have moved on to a matching purse (for mom --to match her baby's anouk I made from the knitty), a made a superfun and pink fuzzy felted purse for myself, and now I am knitting up a super warm shawl for myself to keep on my computer chair and snuggle as I surf the web!!! My goal is to chew down some of my yarn stash so I don't have to feel quite as guilty when I give in to my next yarn bash. I saw someone looking for slipper patterns.... I don't have the addy but do a search under knit a longs and there is currently a great knit along for slippers with loads of free patterns for you. Hope this helps. I like looking at the knit a longs as it gives great ideas and different color/yarn combos. Room is painted. We ended up picking BM Just Peachy, which came out great! Nice pale pink, not too nursery, not too hot pink. The room has a nice "glow" so far and the sun has not been out for days here... -palimpsest- The suggestion to follow pinks from the Brown line of colors was a great idea and that's how we ended up with this color, I kept telling my DD not to read the name of the color-- this usually misleads. She's happy. -rtmom2- To answer your furniture question. DD has natural wood with pine knots showing, french country style. The headboard has subtle stencil done in pale pinks,greens,peach flowers in a light brown basket. Some of this repeats on a smaller scale on the hutch,dresser. The pink on the walls picks up the pink in the flowers and seems to take on something from the natural wood, this pink and the natural wood looks good in the room. The pine knots which are darker will help with the brown that we are working with and I am considering changing her dresser,desk knobs to metal oil-rubbed bronze ones to tie in a new look. We got our furniture years ago at Seamans Kids here in the Northeast, they've gone out of business. Have you tried IKEA for natural wood look? My DD also is not yet into "black" as a color, seems to be the consensus all around...wait another 3 years! Yikes! Good luck. Thank you everyone for all the good ideas, I like the thin line in contrasting paint or some sort of stencil. I'll have to play around with that myself. I hope to put out pictures soon.

Two things I learned after living with the pepto bismol and "aquarium" bedrooms in my old house. Check under the carpet, you may have a great wood floor under there. You can paint a wood floor, grey is a great color to paint it, easy fix. My advice to you is RIP OUT THE CARPET NOW, while it is easy and you still can! I "worked around" a teal carpet in my master bedroom, and regretted it every single day. Carpet in one room isn't going to set you back that much. You deserve to have a master bedroom you love and that speaks to you, not an accommodation to someone else. Oh, and blue highlights pink, so you need lots of brown and yellow and tan and red to tone down the pink. Think of that carpet as very, very light red if you keep it. But don't keep it. Rip out the carpet. Just do it!

My vote is yes, absolutely. My daughter‘s childhood room was the same — pale blush walls with a darker pink headboard and white dresser. Very pretty. I think your husband is probably thinking of it in a vacuum, without other furniture, decor, and colors in there, too. Plus, that paint color, as you said, is extremely pale.

Bed is lovely and paint can easily be adjusted if it clashes or is too much for room. You could do a half wall to break up the pink or wall paper behind bed for example.

Jinx and Maureen - those pictures are exactly the "look" I'm going for! LOVE, thank you!!! I also love the idea of adding a wallpapered accent wall behind the bed, just in case it's not a true tone match. I wonder if I could pull off removable wallpaper without his help?!?

You can easily remove wallpaper on your own. Just need patience if it comes off in smaller pieces. Search iTube for tutorial. If you are wanting to add paper on your own, peel and stick would be easier. I’ve wallpapered on my own and it was no fun, especially when I did a staircase! If you have never done before, you may want to ask for help from someone who has.

I like the pinks, but I think a day bed would be a pain for daily sleeping.

IMO a daybed is not a good choice for an actual bed. I am tall and hate foot boards for that reason. As for the pink IMO never do a color for a permanent piece in a kids bedroom since the favorite color changes yearly . get a nice neutral headboard on a regular bed get a trundle if you need the extra sleeping space and then get pink bedding that can be changed next year . Why not get a forever bed and save the money for the changes that are coming.
