Hi Brittany, What a lovely entry! I agree that either a console or a bench could work in that spot. If the console is as high as the chair rail, I would find one with a width a few inches shy of the chair rail length. You could place a plant, umbrella stand, or even a one-seat bench/stool beside it. Any of those could echo the stair-step with your furniture. You might look for something circular to hang in the triangle space of wall under the stairs. A mirror or sunburst could be fun. Alternately, you could use the console to lean a rectangular mirror or art against the wall. With a lean, you could overlap the stair trim a bit. (You might still attach it to the wall at the top so it doesn't fall down.) With either a bench or a console, you could just use a runner to connect the front door to the next doorway. Or you could use a rug that fills the space a little more, continuing under the console or bench. For rug size, I would measure off the walls about 6" each and line up the front of it with the bottom of the stairs. That would be the maximum size I would get. Hope that helps! Best of luck. Doug

Do you need extra square footage in your home? If so, enclosing the porch to make a formal living room with foyer would make sense to me. As to painting your stucco I would be cautious there. Stucco is a breathable material and painting it can stop moisture from being released to the outside. Then you have moisture buildup which can cause structure to rot. If you do re-stucco your home I would have a whole house wrap to is compatible with stucco installed. Good luck!

Hello! I am looking for some ideas with what to do with the front entrance of our home. I’ve made mistakes in the past with purchasing the wrong kinds of items and furniture. I like the mirror but I’m wondering if it’s not in the best spot. I would like to create a welcoming, clean entry to our home. My husband and I are in our late thirties have a toddler. You have a very traditional home, that wall is very modern. I think it would look out of place. There are a ton more ’board and batten”? styles that you could use and would fit in. If you were looking to moving towards a more modern look throughout your home, thats another story. If you like the wood feature wall look, Id consider a square grid or more rectangular. Something more simple, traditional . I like the look tho. You have a beautiful home.
