Cloudy Dill Pickle Spears - Ball Canning 2016

I made the recipe on page 212
There is a slight cloudiness in the brine. Is this due to the fact that they sat in a salt water solution for 24 hours? I noticed the cloudiness as soon as I ladled in the clear brine...i mean right away. After processing, they are not clear like the photo in the book.
I use pickling salt and did not rinse them.
