IMO choose a colr instead of matching the sofa. A nice soft gray/green and if at all possible before painting have those walls smoothed . Asl make sure all your lighting is LED bulbs in 4000K

Shoji White is a beautiful white with warmth but not yellow. It looks like it would be great with your sofa. You also need to consider your flooring material and color, which is the next largest thing in the room other than the walls.

I have SW crushed Ice in my house. It's a great color. You might get 8.5x11 sheets of paint and put them on various walls to test out...an interior designer can get for you or you can order peel ones online...samplizer I think?

Thanks, I’ll check the lighting. I have no idea what it is because the ceilings are 20 feet high, so I’ve been relying on daylight to see how the color reads. I live in the Pacific Northwest and they LOVE orange peel. I only saw new construction without it. Unfortunately, having the walls smooth is beyond the budget. It’s a modern house, so I am hoping to avoid color. I’ll look at Shoji and Crushed Ice. I’m trying to stay on the warm side because it is gray here and the northern light doesn’t help. Here is my floor and rug in morning light.

Paint your samples next to the floor molding so you can see how it relates to your floor and rug.

How about a light gray/blue, like the lightest blue color in your rug? We get a lot of natural light in our family room, and we put SW Monorail Silver on the walls. On the paint card, it just looks gray, but in a room with a lot of natural light it's a very pretty gray/blue. Lighting is everything with paint. I tried the same color in my bathroom which I thought had a decent amount of natural light and it looked horrible. So you have to test it on various walls, and look at it at different times of day to judge.

If you have a Sherwin Williams paint fan deck, open it up to some of the gray/blue cards in the "Neutrals" section, and try to find a light version of a muted blue that looks good with your rug. Since your couch is an oatmeal color, I think blue will look good. Just don't make it baby-boy-nursery blue. Look in the "Neutral" section, not the "Colors" section.

I hired a designer and we took color boards all over the house and settled on BM Natural Cream. My husband thought it looked to dark, so I got samples of BM Nature’s Essentials ( same as natural cream) and Hushed Hue. The natural cream was muddy brown and the hushed hue looked khaki. They just looked wrong with the furniture and rug. I decided to try something with a bit more green and went with BM Early Morning Mist. I like it, but it’s just a bit too green until the sun comes in the room around 5:30pm. Then one wall is a light greige and another wall is gray, and another wall green. I’m stuck again. I’m thinking about getting samples of November Rain or Overcast. I’m like green, but not this much. Thoughts?

BM Going to the Chapel is a shade lighter than Early Morning Mist. I like the way Early Morning Mist looks in your photo. Remember that the color won't look as saturated after the whole wall is painted. I would stay away from anything too gray and look for warmer whites.

Natural Cream is a true greige color and I think it is beautiful but being in the NW you may crave more warmth. You could try BM Creamy white. I love BM Palace White and use it often but I am in Fla and the bright sun here may temper it to a soft cream. It might read too yellow in your space. Keep in mind that your large space with 20’ ceilings will diminish the impact of any color once the whole room is painted!

Thank you. I tried these BM colors yesterday: ballet white, swiss coffee, white dove and soft chamois. White dove was the only one that didn’t scream yellow. I tried the natural cream again, but it’s almost fleshy. I consider going to the chapter, but I think it will be even more green. The color will be in the entry, living room, up two stairways and into the art/dining room. That’s a lot of green! Not to mention it’s green here all year long, especially in the winter. White dove is fresh and light and I think it’s what I need in the space.

The old color is a gray off white and white dove is much lighter. Forgive the mess, this an area in progress.
