Design Dilemma Kitchens Appliances

need suggestions for wall oven replacement

Years ago we remodeled our kitchen and added two under counter “wall” ovens. They are Bosch that need to be replaced. In hindsight these were installed totally against all the rules (specs) but functioned pretty well for 20+ years. I realize that I will need to drop the oven down and lose the pullout drawer. Since we will need to reconfigure everything, I will only be getting a single oven and adding two large drawers in place of the second oven. I’m looking at Viking, wolf and Bosch. I would appreciate any suggestions for other lines I should be considering. Thanks for the help!

I have never understood placing wall ovens below the counter sine IMO then they just cecome the ovens with a range and you could have saved money with a range . I assume you are not changing counters so having all this done it he same space . I think your first step will be to see what will fit properly in the space you have with all the allowances you will need.My advice go to a good appliance store and see what suits your cooking style and space.I run a catering bix from my home have had KA double wall ovens for 13 yrs not one issue and those ovens are used at lot they are electric convection full size. that is what works for me along with an all gas range because some things are better baked in gas IMO.

When my kitchen was originally designed 20 yrs ago I wanted two ovens but not on top of each other. This arrangement made a lot of sense way back then! I have a Viking cooktop with drawers for storage. My thinking was I didn’t want to stand over a hot oven when I was cooking at the stove. I floated the idea of replacing the “stove shrine” (what my designer called it!) with a range but DH poopooed that idea. He might change his mind when he sees the price of a new single wall oven!

The title clearly says gas, and it sounds like there are 2 singles. Your mainstream options are Maytag, GE, and Frigidaire. There might be some other brands out there but I don't know of them. First measure the cabinet and check the dimensions of the ovens you're considering. Then once you narrow it down to ones that will fit, I'd say just buy the cheapest one. The ovens aren't that different, they are low on features and primarily made for retrofit applications like yours.

We just got a "returned" right swing Bosch double oven for 25% off. Their 800 series is a decent unit but we ended up going with the benchmark as we got a big discount and it is well reviewed here and on the yaleappliance website (http://blog.yaleappliance.com/best-double-wall-ovens-2015). Price can jump pretty dramatically for Wolf M series or Gag

I had a double oven in my former home and now have a MW/single oven combo in my new home. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. If I had a choice today, I would opt for double ovens and a separate microwave, either on the counter or under counter. Also, it's highly unlikely that you will be able to fit the new unit into the same space without some cabinet modification. Good luck.

Yes. I’ve baked in it but obviously you are limited in terms of the size so you can’t do multiple batches of cookies or three cake pans at the same time. I’ve made pizza from scratch in mine i believe the largest will hold a 13” x 9” pan so it is suitable for family meals. It’s not going to replace a large oven and it’s not meant to be but if you don’t want to replace your full size oven, it’s an excellent compromise. The oven in my stove broke and I was in the same position you are now since I didn’t want to buy a new stove as I was gutting the kitchen and putting in a wall oven and cooktop. Check out the specifications and reviews on amazon. If you don’t want to immediately replace your full size oven, it’s the closest thing available on the market that I am aware of and it has the additional benefit of being a useful appliance even after you are through.
