Interesting...my favorites, hard to choose, are the first one too, and #4. I find it interesting that your very first piece(s), done before you took the class, didn't have the counterpoint of large surfaces of color and sharp individual lines, like the teacher's work does, but now you're working in more of that contrast between space and line, blur and sharp focus. I honestly still like the piece(s) you posted before the class, too. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work. You know, there is a line of thinking about women artists that some women only really come into their full creativity after children are raised and menopause has come and gone. I personally love art by older women rather than by young schooled talent. Does that idea resonate with your experience at all? and oakley, please don't hold out -- I tried to see 'something' in it and I can maybe make part of it look like a face? Or what is it?

Thanks, slow. My good friends gave me a gift certificate from Maryland Mosaics last year and I splurged on two large pieces of Wedi as well as some other stuff, and got free shipping. I know who the local dealer is for Wedi, but I haven't priced it there yet. The reason I skim-coated is because the Wedi is an ugly grey and has that grid pattern on it and some of the stained glass I used is translucent, so I used white thinset just for looks. If I was using opaque tess, I wouldn't bother. The main reason I wanted Wedi in the first place is because it's so light weight (compared to other substrates) and I'm paranoid about hanging something heavy on a wall. I am happy with the results and will use Wedi again; just have to save up my money once this stash is all gone.

If the desks you purchased fit the exact width of your room and are up against the window wall, your floor to ceiling curtains will be in the way. It looks like you already have blinds on the windows so maybe just get rid of the curtains? The rug is great and will look good with your art. My advice is to start loading everything into your room and actually seeing how it all fits together instead of trying to visualize. If something doesn't go, you'll know right away and can return it. Also, when you are looking for an inspiration room, try to find a few and not just one. You really like the colours of your current inspiration room and that's a good start. You should also find an inspiration room that has the desk pushed against the wall and not floating in the middle of the room which is your actual furniture placement. I think what you have chosen so far looks great! You're on the right track! Keep going!!

I don’t like trying to choose art for people I don’t know, but did think of this piece when I saw your room. I’m not sure if the size would work, though. I really like how quiet it is. It’s intriguiung and makes me want to look closer.
