Placing Electric Outlets In Kitchen - Low or in Middle ?
Comments (10)Funny, I'm in the middle of this process right now. One note-- Building codes and electrical codes are different in every state (and sometimes county and township). To be certain, you may want to make a quick call to your local permit & licensing agency (they may have info online). After having an entire 1840's house re-wired and drywalled, with final inspection complete. Overwhelmed with so many other "important" details, I didn't specify to the electrician I wanted my wall plugs horizontal and close to counters. After the fact, I paid $$ to have it re-done by another electrician in fear that the original one would consider me certifiable, making ANOTHER change. I just keep forgetting, not everyone is a MINDREADER! It will be better than what I had to work with originally. However,After having a realization that "plug mold" (sp?) Isn't an anti-microbial counter sealant or wood putty filler for cabinetry, I really wish that I had checked into it. It really makes sense for my needs. Oh well, what's a girl to do! It's the little things that get me EVERY time! Check out the options and one will stick out as being best for you. Comments (12)I have a gas range and need a fireproof surface... and I'm mulling over backsplash options too. Read the installation specs for your stove -- they may vary. The following is from a GE electric slide-in range manual: 30" ranges conform to U.L. requirements for 0" spacing from vertical walls below countertops. Allow 1/4" minimum clearance at the back wall above the countertop. Wall coverings, counters and cabinets around range must withstand heat (up to 194°F) generated by the range. So at least for the particular stove I checked, you'd be OK. Beadboard looks great, and the price is right. Amcofar, how long has your beadboard been in place? Comments (19)I haven't got time to find a pic right now, but we put a 7' window over our main sink. I searched and found a 43" sink, and then placed the outlets in the window returns. It just makes the 24" rule on each side. The window returns are flared on a 45 degree angle to soften our thick walls. The inspector was vague about the outlets in the window returns, but they passed it OK. Found a pic- sort of. One outlet is hidden behind the coffee maker, the other one you can see through the glass container. You can see the concept in the other window, just to the right of the mixer....See Moretile backsplash behind stove dilemma
Comments (17)Hey,,Belk tile and Harrington,,,, yes it is normal,,unless you have a type of stove that doesn't allow it. But if you read what OP had written,,,, "My stove sits almost flush to the wall and if I were to install the backsplash behind the stove it would make the range stick out from the cabinets. ". (which also means OP tiling behind her stove would be a waste of money and tile for her) My response was to tile the splash that suits your stove rather than screw up your stove install merely because another owner, decades later, might have a different stove. This is common sense here. has nothing to do with 'being nice'. The point being, Why should OP sacrifice her install in her own house just to suit the possibility of new owners and a possible different stove. That's ludicrous! Hence my reply, 'tile to suit your own stove and leave spare tiles". I mean, seriously guys,,,you don't even know if she plans on moving in the next 20 years or not. pretty sure that any tile design will be 'out' within 10 years anyway, which means new owners will be ripping out said tile. Anglophilia,,,keeping w/the consideration theme here,,,perhaps you should forget about your custom cabinet for the fridge. I mean, what if the new owners don't have a fridge that fits?...See MoreRL N
