Office decor advice please?

While antique browsing on IG I came across this beautiful John Widdicomb desk and couldn’t pass it up. Now I am needing suggestions on how to compliment it while creating a bright and modern office space. I also have a fireplace in this space too and would like to incorporate a settee or loveseat. Blinds will be white. I recently sold the brown ones in the background. Paint color is also changing to a white or beige color.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I’m looking at your desk, which is beautiful, and I can’t really tell from the picture but does the middle area have a blue/gray color in the design? If so, that might be a good color for the wall. I think that color would compliment the desk very nicely.

That's gorgeous! Can you share photos of the rest of the room so we can see the entire space you're working with? What do you plan to use the desk for? Laptop and monitors, etc.?

If you pull the desks away from the wall, and place storage behind your office chair, you can easily swivel around to that storage. As far as the walls go, I would wait until you were comfortable with the desk placement and then do a grouping or two of photos, or art. But I would also encourage you to purchase art from your local gallery to support the local talent. You could then find something that has color and movement to finish the space. Don't forget to get two plastic mats for under those chairs to save the flooring. And a big floor plant would love that window.

I like it also.....hang the picture, leave the vase and one lantern....items should be 3 or 5..uneven numbers. I have un-kitchen items displayed in my kitchen.....plants, crosses, mirrors, apothacary jars, or whatever strikes my fancy. Brimful could decorate that shelf at Christmas time into something very pretty if she wants to.

Those Pax wardrobes are fabulous storage options. I'd go with white, for sure. The Pax didn't work in our bedroom but I think it's partly because they were at the entrance of the room. Surrounding the window as you have it in your layout would work heaps better. They look great in Lyfia's pics. I'm also short and feel claustrophobic with tall furniture so that's my bias.

I love your room! It’s light, airy, and spacious. For the bedside tables, it would look nice if it was a color other than white or gray. A light wood tone may look nice. For curtains, white lightweight curtains would keep the light and airy feel. Pick a color that you prefer and use it to add color to your room through a rug, pillows, and artwork.

Thank you both! Yes I will be working on my laptop, doing some writing, etc. I also plan to use the room for my ladies’ den to just relax or host friends when that’s acceptable again.

I would place the desk and chair at an angle to the right of the fireplace, with the chair loosely in the corner in front of the window. Then you can add a lounger with an accent chair for your "ladies' den" seating arrangement in the rest of the room.
