It’s hard to find gray with gray grout, so maybe there’s a reason.

I did gray epoxy grout with my white subway tile. I was concerned that white would show too many stains even though it is the teeniest of grout lines. I would go gray with yours, too.

I would do gray, slightly lighter than your tile. There are so many gray grout colors to choose from, have you picked up a sample pack yet? It is so helpful to just look at the options in your space with your tile and counter. For me, it has always been pretty easy at that point.

I say white. Id like to see the pattern the grout makes. Pretty space!

I think you'll need a wider grout line because of the uneven edges of the tile. That means more grout to clean.

Bbstx, I never have a problem with staining on my tiles. This kitchen’s stove has a cut out opening to the living room so no tile behind it.

Toby good point. It was given to be by my tile rep. She helped with grout for my bathroom. It’s gray and we went with Silverado in there.

The white is going to make the backsplash about the pattern, the grey will make it about the color and texture and be more subtle. IMO, you have to decide if you want the backsplash pattern to be a focus point or some other part of the kitchen. Does that make sense? :)

Dee yes! I am torn. But, if the spaces are wide like Toby suggests, than I think I’m swayed toward gray.

For me, the easiest way to make these kinds of decisions is to make up sample boards with the various choices so I can see them in the light of the room.

eld, I was talking about staining on the grout not staining on the tiles. Because you do not have tile behind your stove, I don’t think you’d have much of a problem with staining.

When I was active in the home forums, I remember the professional tile installers in Baths as being very helpful.

You can look up the tile online and they'll recommend grout line width. There might also be photos of it installed. When I was tiling my bathroom, I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me additional installation photos that weren't online.

Bbstx, I knew you meant the grout. I have never had that problem with my other kitchen that is tiled behind the stove. That one is going on ten years.

I am not sure exactly what color grout this is... but it looks lovely and reminded me of your kitchen colors.

Agree with Dee. Gray grout would be more cohesive whereas white would highlight the pattern. Different looks with different appeal. I personally would prefer gray.

What color grout do you think they used in that photo I posted? Is it a creamy white? It is hard to tell.

"Creamy" colors seem to have a yellow tone. I would call it a soft white or warm white.

I think you could go with gray but pick one of the lightest ones. Then you have to decide if the tile is a cool gray or a warm gray.

I am thinking it is a creamy color. Not white but some version of a cream.
