presumably you don't want to *match* these pieces (which would make them disappear) but harmonize with them...? I'd go with a very light natural white oak or maple, which would be lighter than your current floors and thus let this furniture stand out. the other direction would be to go darker, like with a walnut-type stain. hickory is a *very* busy floor, so it would win any competition of attention centers...

Thank you so much for your comment & pictures! As far as other elements in the room ... I have 2 pieces of solid oak Amish made furniture that I bought dark hardware for to try & see if I could make it work with the new bed. In the picture I’m posting I haven’t change the hardware yet. I really am loving the idea of buying a off -white dresser & night stand/table. My options is to keep the 2 pieces of oak furniture and buy the matching hooker brand night stands (which are dark walnut) or replace everything with Off white pieces. The solid furniture I have is so well made I was trying to make it work but it maybe time to let it go. I love the magazine cottage journal & they do mix a lot of pieces but I think mine would need to be glazed or painted to make it work?? Are there links to the furniture you posted? If you think the oak would work, I was thinking of buying a round dark framed mirror also. The nightstand pic is one that goes with the hooker set.. a little too rustic. Painting the room is a option too if you have suggestions. This is the room as floors were being refinished.

The room also has the original, HUGE, beautiful built in mirror that is built into the wall with ornate wood. I feel like it's time to strip and re stain this as well, so again, what color should I use? It gets even worse! we had to pull the old crap trim and are replacing it. My hubby purchased beautiful trim that is white. Too much going on. Skip the pallet ceiling. The mirror is the focal point. Don't need (or want!) anything else. Make it easy on yourself & do a painted drywall (or plaster) ceiling. For firespread resistance, you need drywall under the pallet boards anyway.

You'll get better advice if you post a picture of your floors. If you are considering particular pieces of furniture, post pictures of them as well, in the colors you're considering.
