Shower Curtain Rod solution for sloped ceiling?
Comments (4)You might think about checking into the ceiling mounted rracks. You might get more room. Also some of them are flexible and can be bent by hand which might help you. I found some of these tracks while searching for a track for my shower/tub where I wanted to enclose one side and part of the second, then make an "s" and tuck the rod away into a cubby. One company is curtaintracks.com. I don't see why you couldn't adapt for your purpose as well....See MoreBasement shower/wet room-ideas & kerdi?
Comments (1)I know some folks do this sort of shower with a toilet in it, let me tell you why I wouldn't: I think the toilet would be constantly damp and covered with water spots. Unless you have extremely soft water with no minerals and you only use liquid soaps [generally clean rinsing] and banned most hair products, I think you'd need to get on your hands and knees to dry the toilet after every shower. And remember: a curbless still needs to be lower than the surrounding floor, so the shower either has to be carved into the slab, or the slab will need to be raised. In the process of designing my house, I came up with all sorts of creative ideas to resolve space planing dilemmas. Some worked and I kept them; more didn't, and I had to keep thinking. For me, this would be in the 'keep thinking' column....See Moreshower rod issues!
Comments (10)Thanks all! ok, so Budge1, are you telling me there are places to get shower curtain rods other than Home Depot/Lowes/BB&B?? I honestly never thought to look at real plumbing places. I bought what seemed the best available, but I think you and Lindaz are right and I need to just bite the bullet & screw it to the wall! so where should I look to buy this rod? Oh, and I absolutely love the curved rod and had planned on using one, but our bathroom is really, really tiny and when we bought our new tub, it was wider than the one from 1969 and is now freakishly close to the toilet. It doesn't bother us, but even expanding the curtain out a little would mean it would just about touch us when we use the potty. thanks for the input and any on-line shopping sites for the rod would be great....See MoreShower only in rental, curtain or glass door?
Comments (10)I have rental units and would never, ever consider a glass door for the reasons you are concerned about. I also toss shower curtains because no one wants anyone else's used one, new tenants want to decorate in their own style, and I don't have time to wash them in-between tenants. However, prefab showers are a nightmare with shower curtains. The curb is never high enough to contain the curtain properly unless the user takes care to make sure it's positioned correctly, which is iffy at best. Tubs have the same problem, believe it or not, albeit at a smaller rate. And tenants never accept or believe that the water coming through the ceiling below is due to their misuse of the shower curtain. Now I tile the wall outside every bathtub and shower, including waterproofing the wall, and also waterproof the floor several feet out. And when I replace a shower, I always put in tile pans so that I can build a sufficiently high curb to properly hold the curtain in. I also try to put in wing walls if possible so that the curtain rod can go all the way across the shower and past the opening by at least 6" on each side. That way the curtain is totally inside the shower along the bottom and both sides, with no opening for a tenant to have to fuss with....See MoreD. Stone
