I would want the microwave on top - its the more frequent appliance. Also see your install SPEC requirements

That is what I thought too. I was going to put a different microwave with a side open door but that makes my bank of cabinets much longer.

How does that make your cabinets longer? It doesn't. You can do a 24 inch micro with a trim kit or a 30 inch micro. Either way? You fit the OVEN in the space, first. All above and below is a "match" , be that appliance or doors or drawers or whatever.

Yes, a microwave is perfect to stack over the single oven, taking the space of a typical double oven, also allowing you to use the less expensive side door models with a trim kit as @JAN MOYER suggests. Big difference in cost.

This is the way I was going to do it. I know it is not a good layout but if I put my microwave but one of the French Door single wall ovens that will save me at least 30 inches because I won't need the 15 inch cabinets on each side of the white microwave.

Thanks, my ovens will be 30" so I would want my microwave to be 30" also. I don't see that the model I want comes any smaller.

I"m assuming the picture on top is the microwave. Maybe it's because I'm a short woman, but that microwave would never safely work for me installed over an oven. Something to consider if you have children that will use it. Find one that opens from the side. That is exactly what we did-convection/ microwave over a single wall oven. With the trim kit on the microwave they are exactly the same 30 inch size.

I am 5' 6 1/2" and no children in the house. Right now my microwave is above my cooktop and every time I open the door it hits my shoulder. We are building a new house so I am looking for options. I do not like the microwave drawers so thought the pull-down would be better for me but I understand what you mean. Even at my height, I don't want it too high or too low (bad back) Right now I have to get on a stool to clean my microwave. If you were here you would have to use a ladder just to reach it. It is the correct distance from the cooktop but even this one seems higher than my old one. It was a Whirlpool Veleos microwave and the door bowed out in front and it made all of the difference in the world. I had no problem cleaning it either. I was going to keep it when we did our remodel 2 years ago but it died 2 weeks before I ordered my new appliances.

Not what you asked about, but is that your main sink and your cooktop next to each other? And also is the cooktop all by its lonesome at the end? Don’t do that.

For the wall oven on the far left against the wall - how accurate is that drawing? Looks like you won’t be able to open the oven door with that style door due to its being against the wall. May be a fire hazard too - I’ve not seen a wall oven against a sidewall like that.

yes, it is--I was told it needs to be on an outside wall because of the hood vent and that is my only outside wall unless I want to move it to the opposite wall from the wall ovens. I meet with the builder this week and I am sure we will work things out. Why do you say "Don't do that"??

I know everyone does not like my idea but I am doing my best and NO I don't have a Kitchen Designer. I have a gal that I am working with to order my cabinets--I know some on this group think that is not enough but I am working with what I have available and those that know this area. I am sure my builder will have LOTS of ideas too. I have certain things I have to work around--like that door going to the covered porch--that is non-negotiable. The sink has to be on the North wall (northeast part of the house), the Breakfast Nook on the Northeast corner. Our Master Bedroom the Northwest corner of the house. Garage on the Southwest corner with the doors facing east.

You can get all of those non-negotiables and still work with a KD. You can also post your plan here with those non-negotiables and get help that way - lots of quality advice to be had here if you go into it with an open mind. It's not about it "not being enough" - remember that "gal" at the cabinet place, while a sweetie, is still a salesperson, and most likely works on commission - same as your builder. It is in all of these people's best interest to sell, and upsell, you.

Thanks for your concern. I have posted my house plan before and have been scolded with not very nice comments. I know my design is terrible but I have been working at it while I wait for other people to have time for me. Without going into great detail--I need to make things the same only larger using the design I have now. Expanding my kitchen has gone wrong on all levels. Right now we live in a 2 level home and I am trying to get as much in our new home all on one level.

Basically, I was asking a question about where to put my microwave with the pull-down door--above or below the french door single wall oven. And yes, I will have 2 french door single wall ovens and that is another story. Some are insistent on telling me to get a microwave drawer--I do not like microwave drawers. Thanks again.

I don't really understand what you are talking about. I was asking about putting my microwave in the same wall cabinet as my French door single wall oven. The wall oven--if on the bottom will not be any lower than the bottom oven in my double oven I have right now. I found a photo of what I want but was basically asking if anyone has this setup and if it is working for them.

Not "required" only recommended. Any lowly 500 dollar range with a drawer bottom?? That drawer is NOT 17 inches high, and there are probably a few million of those out there. . She'll live. ..

That “required and recommended” issue .....interpretation ....could come back and bite you..i would ask the manufacture the reason for this recommendation...and if it will endanger the warranty if you disregard it.......could it be fire hazard that could even void your fire insurance by some odd circumstance?...yes ...sooo...unlikely. BUT.....😩

This is going too far. All I asked was the placement. I know you don't like my layout and I am sure it will change but all I wanted was an answer to my question, not a lecture. Thanks, I am sure I will hire help but I don't need to be told over and over again that is what I need to do. The old group was so much better. Never the belittling like we "UnProffessionals" get here.
