What grain wood laminate goes with oak cabinets?.
Comments (7)I'm not really sure that any laminate wood would look good against real wood. I think if your cabinets were painted white you could get away with it, but laminate only looks good if you can't compare it to the real thing. Have you thought about slate or stone laminate? I have seen that and it looks fantastic! You have to load your pictures on a host site like Photobucket and then put the code here for pictures to show up. If you use photobucket, it will give you 4 little code boxes under each picture. Copy and paste the contents of the 3rd box into your Gardenweb post....See MoreHelp! Need Input Re 6cm Thick Laminated Marble Island Top
Comments (4)With a marble, unless you are doing an ogee or dupont type edge, you want a mitered edge, not a laminated edge. A laminated edge is two pieces of marble stacked together with the seam in the middle of the two pieces.. It does not look good with a light colored stone with veining. The seam is very apparent and the veining does not match up. A mitered edge, a mitered frame is built around the sides of the 3cm countertop & the seam is at the top of the 90 degree edge. You don't have to go a full 6cm. You should be able to get any thickness you want. If your fabricator has done this type of edge many times, you should be okay. There have been a couple of people here that thought they were getting a mitered edge and it was laminated, and they were unhappy with the result. If it is a dark stone or a stone with a dense tight pattern, a laminated edge can be invisible. If you do a google search "gardenweb kitchen forum, mitered edge", there are several threads about mitered and laminated edges....See MorePlease show me pics of your laminate countertop with Oak Cabinets
Comments (2)Wow cordovamom, they look good with the oak. I have seen deepfossil but the little chip didn't show how well it would go with oak. I may have to take a look at this again. I also noticed you don't have the laminate backsplash piece. I like that look, I am guessing you had it custom made? Thank you so much for taking the time to post!!...See MoreHelp! Comments (10)Formica Idealedge comes in ogee and bullnose. I have the ogee. There is a brown line where the counter top ends. Not in the run of the counter though. My pattern is Dolce Vita and has lots of movement in the pattern and unless your face is up against it you can't see the brown line. Now, yours is a lighter color so you might see yours more. I also like laminate for ease of care and durability. Unless they come out with something new, laminate is the only counter tops I would have. Just remember no hot pots or cutting on the counter top. Of course that is true of a lot of different types of counter tops. I had my last Formica counter top for 24 years and overall looked as good as the day I put it in when I sold the house....See MoreAli Hacha
