I have a CC and I have the larger griddle. I'd recommend it over the smaller one because you get more cooking surface. The edges taper up, so the practical cooking surface is actually smaller than you might think. Also, I think you might end up using it more over two burners than over the grill. I've tried it both ways and I like it over two burners better. Why? Two main reasons. First, it takes longer to preheat over the grill. Over the grill, you have to preheat the grill and then the pan. And second, with the grill, you only have one large zone. The back is slightly cooler, but the temperature gradient might not be wide enough. Over two burners, you have two cooking zones. I usually have the front burner hotter for active griddling and the back burner cooler for holding and finishing. But if I have a large batch of pancakes, I'll set the front and back burners the same and do all the pancakes at the same time. While you're shopping, consider adding an inexpensive grill surface thermometer to your cart. I keep one on the griddle pan when I use it and slide it around to keep a check on the temps. It's especially helpful in the beginning as you get used to the griddle and how it behaves on your range at the various knob settings.

There is a formula it goes something like this: Measure the length of your island/table in inches. Example: 60" wide Determine how many pendants you want and the diameter of each. Add them up for a combined diameter. Example: 3 pendants with an 8" diameter. Combined = 24" Subtract the combined diameter from the length of the island. Example: 60" - 24"= 36" Add 1 to the number of pendants. (This accounts for the space between each pendant and the ends of the island) Example: Since its 3 pendants, this number will be 4. Divide your subtracted value by the number of pendants. Example: 36" ÷ 4 = 9". You’ll want about 9" of space in between each pendant.

David Cary: I don't know if you're referring to my post with the "bass ackwards" reference but just for the record I used the word "backwards" which is the correct word to describe what appears to be happening. And if I was talking to the OP face to face, I'd say "Great start but I think you're going about this backwards." Since you had it in quotes I'll conclude your reference was accurate and it was somewhere else, but upon a cursory review I couldn't find it. But I do agree with you that the home crit responses on the forum could certainly be nicer without compromising the message. Some of the crits are just plain demeaning for no reasons that I can see. I’ve only been looking at poor designs folks have been bringing/sending me for 45 years so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but I've found there’s always a positive way to deliver bad news that the owner may not want to hear with the result a reminder to me of the value of honey when catching flies. Some appear to be intentionally written to put the poster on the defensive which generally results in a "us vs. them" mentality typically going nowhere. ETA: Please don’t interpret this as the OP’s in these threads like this one are sinless either because most aren’t but maybe for different reasons.

If you like the look of the proportions of your current windows, but think they would look better a few inches taller, than add a foot+few inches to your new 10 ft ceilings. I'm sure there are some rough guidelines, but a lot comes down to preference and house design. Technology also comes into play, such as much larger doors and windows being used in hurricane areas due to newer window glass that is designed for the higher wind speeds. Some people don't like windows close to the ground and some do. Custom homes tend to have more and bigger windows than tract homes or spec builds. Do you want furniture in front of some windows? Adjust the sill height accordingly for those windows. Also consider the look from outside the house.
