What sheen of paint should I choose for bedroom and living room?
Comments (1)Hi Jane..., Sheen choice is such a subjective thing obviously. Some like a "glow" on the walls from nightstand lamps, etc., & others' don't. Some feel Flat finishes look rich, but cleanability drops off. Overall, the Eggshell SHEEN (not color) seems the most popular in our store. Consider your cleaning-styles/frequency too. If you're a fussy cleaner, Flat might not be for you; UNLESS you use a Premium-flat like C2 or ACE'S Sensations flat with Scotchguard-VERY cleanable. Don't be scared to "go deep" with color, if only on an accent wall. Deeper colors in Bedrooms can feel very cozy & warm...kind of the way a Bedroom should be! Be aware though, some dark colors need a dark primer under them. TWO topcoats still needed though!! (Of course, big color changes usually lead to new drapes, etc., etc.,.... ;-) Faron...See MoreWhat Accent Paint should I choose??
Comments (1)Off white or very light beige with blue and brown in the accents such as window coverings, throw pillows, area rugs...you get the picture. An expert I am not, so take it for what it's worth...lol....See MoreTile Grout help needed ASAP
Comments (9)That is the problem we have offshore tile mfg's making these sheet mosaics with grout lines that are too big for unsanded and too small for sanded. What you have to do is a double pass or pound that grout in tight to avoid it shrinking back and cracking. If your tile person needs to do small batches on a shower pan get another tile person. You have to let your floor dry to determine if the color is consistent. You can see by the drain it is darker. When a person grouts a floor if they over wash the grout they take out the color. Let the floor dry. What they can do is use a stiff bristle brush and go over the grout lines what that will do is expose the grout underneath and even out the tone throughout the floor. You will see the grout change as you brush. Obviously do it lightly. Then when you seal it will again help even it out. That said cementitious grouts will always show darker when wet. Saker grouts show this even more. Another problem is mosaic tiles are hard to clean out all the thinset between the tiles. Id the tile person does not do this those spots will always look darker. Put a fan in there to dry it out. use a stiff bristle brush across the entire floor. Use a sponge to wipe off the floor. Rinse that sponge constantly as you will be pulling off the grout dust. Let it dry and then seal. It will look 10x's better. There is no reason yet to dig out anything or use any other product. You will expose the true color with brass brush and a little elbow grease. LET IT DRY FIRST!! Beth is correct that Mapei grout does eliminate any color issues but also has its drawbacks on a floor....See MoreWhat paint color should I choose for this bedroom with lots of wood?
Comments (16)You might want to look up early 1900s color schemes from the Arts&Crafts movement - aka Craftsman or Mission style (sorta).C... just for inspiration, you wouldnt have to go full-blown A&C in your decor or anything. What you have in mind sounds very sympatico. Those styles all were a reaction from the stuffy fussy Victorian era, and emphasized natural materials like stone and wood and took inspiration from colors from nature. You know - you do have quite a nice color scheme already picked for you in your stone work. Do you like that stone? Im seeing some nice blue grays, browns, gold-browns and the mortar beige of course....See Moremaggie216
