Comments (7)I love using my cast iron Kohler Riverby, which is sort of a workstation. I use the grate and utility rack that came with the sink and I purchased another smaller right sided grate to go over the drain area. The plastic colander that came with the sink is useless to me and I agree that a workstation colander might not be sanitary if left sitting in the sink. The grates are useful for letting water flow under other items, for protecting the sink, for drying pots and pans, and for a softer landing area in a cast iron sink. I do not own a garbage disposal and I don't cook with a lot of grease, so my grates don't seem to get especially dirty or gross. I think if I were to wash something greasy, then the racks would go into the DW or I would fill the bottom of the sink with soapy water, hand washing the racks in place. The utility rack is handy for holding a sponge, dish rag, or air-drying knives....See MoreSink tilt-out trays with Kraus Workstation sink?
Comments (4)Why do you want this? It's just one more thing to clean because it gets grungy and mildewy from the damp sponges and the enclosed space. Also, to your question, even if you can fit it, it forces the sink to be installed further back from the edge of the counter, which is not ergonomic and can lead to backache at the sink....See MorePrep Sink Help - Sink Workstation?
Comments (6)I will never judge anyone for wanting to avoid as much cleaning as possible. We’ve marked out how large the first sink option is and it’s too large for what we need. Going to go with a smaller 17 or 18” sink and just use seperate cutting boards, collanders, etc., because as cool as the workstation appears to be, it doesn’t appear to provide additional function (e.g., you can just have a cutting board and colander extend over the sink, no real difference). I think also over time as these things wear, you eventually end up with that anyways....See MoreJ9
