Identify this plant?

Hi, this started growing in our vegetable garden. It's about 3 ft tall now. We're in southern Ontario and it's a hot summer this year. Can't find this plant online, in books, etc. Any ideas? Thx.

Persicaria maculosa or similar member of that genus. In a garden it’s a weed.

Thanks. I googled kalanchoe beharensis and the images shown look identical to the plant we have so it must be that. Also found a listing on eBay for a kalanchoe beharensis and they referred to it as captain cook's hat. Not an Australian native (as we were told) after all.
