There is a lot of color going on but not having seen it, it might not appear to be a lot of color. Some color can take a quiet back seat while others want to overload the whole symphony.

Paint the hutch a charcoal, deep blue, or black. Upholster the chairs in a cream with stripe to match/blend with the hutch. Do not use buttons in the chairs; too formal. Just a suggestion. But the set is lovely!

Hello everyone. This has been a process. Thrilled with how the chairs turned out. The picture does not do it justice. New webbing, foam and Dacron wrapped seats. We will wait for next year to tackle refinishing the table. We want to use the table during the fall/winter months vs the kitchen counter. Put up a new light fixture (34" from the table) Now....I'm thinking of curtains on the entire back wall as suggested by Beth H. : ...but what color? What do you think about a colored sheer? I do like the light coming through the blinds....which we did ditch the metal blinds.. ran to Home Depot and got faux wood for now. I'll post some updated photos. As always, your comments are truly appreciated.

Thank you all. I pretty much feel like the kitchen elements are dictating the show because I am not changing them anytime soon. The kitchen shares a wall with the family room so the color has to satisfy both. I should have mentioned that in my first post. I have natural linen being painted from the upstairs hallway and foyer area and so far that color looks awesome. However I am Leary that this color will be too light for this room. We have 9 ft ceilings and very bright late afternoon sunshine in the family room. Its very dark any other time. I am partial to beige and taupes. Would those colors work here? And for those who have strong opinions about the rug. Would you go light or dark?
